The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt of India and International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) have jointly set-up a collaborative centre to perform cutting-edge research in the field of bioenergy using genomics, metagenomics, synthetic biology and systems biology approaches. The investigators at the Centre are leading teams of research personnel to fulfill various objectives of the Bioenergy Centre, including cellulolytic degradation of plant biomass, engineering microbes for consolidated bioprocessing, engineering algae for higher lipid and biomass yield, and engineering microbes for advanced biofuel production.

Established in the year 1998, by Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Act 13, 1998. Over a sprawling Campus of about 247 acres, the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya is marching towards development into a center of excellence in the arena of Technical Education, Research and Innovations. Under its umbrella there are 05 UTD's, 217 affiliated Engineering Colleges, 95 Pharmacy Colleges, 88 MCA Colleges and 04 Architecture Colleges imparting Graduate level instructions running around 17 under graduate level courses, 85 Polytechnic institutions offering diploma courses in emerging and conventional disciplines. The National Institute of Immunology (NII) is committed to advanced research addressing the basic mechanisms involved in body's defence to identify modalities for manipulation of the immune system to provide protection against diseases and understand mechanisms that can be used to target disease processes for intervention. The institute’s research thrust areas under immunology and related disciplines cluster in four main themes, namely, infection and immunity, molecular design, gene regulation and reproduction and development, where cutting edge research in modern biology is being carried out.

With a coastline of about 3,500 miles, inland sources in Rajasthan and Little Rann of Kutch, and the rock salt mines in Mandi, India have possibilities of attaining a high position in salt production among the salt producing countries of the world. As is known, apart from being an indispensable item of food, salt is an important raw material for the manufacture of several heavy chemicals e.g. soda ash, caustic soda and chlorine. Besides, salt is used in food processing industries, such as fish curing, meat packing, dairy products and fruit and vegetable canning.
