Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi) is a collaborative, patients’ needs-driven, non-profit drug research and development (R&D) organization that is developing new treatments for neglected patients.DNDi focuses on discovering and developing treatments for sleeping sickness (human African trypanosomiasis), Chagas disease, leishmaniasis, filarial infections, paediatric HIV, mycetoma, and hepatitis C. In 2016, in collaboration with the World Health Organization, DNDi launched the Global Antibiotic Research & Development Partnership, a not-for-profit research and development organization to develop new antibiotic treatments addressing antimicrobial resistance and to promote their responsible use for optimal conservation, while ensuring equitable access for all.
Post : Business Development Senior Manager
Purpose of the position
The Business Development Senior Manager will support DNDi in India in achieving its objectives by managing, in close cooperation with R&D teams and Geneva Business Development (BD) team, the business development activities and act as an alliance manager for current and future partners. This is a broad role from mapping out the life sciences sector in India, identifying potential partners, implementing the partnership strategies in coordination with the BD Director, building relationships and attending scientific and business conferences to continuously monitor the changing environment of the pharmaceutical industry in India. The employee must be willing to take a holistic approach and perform all levels of work required to support the BD efforts for the disease area, including administrative tasks, in a small, energetic and leanly resourced team.
Job Description
• Act as alliance manager for current and future partners
• Supervise and support local R&D and BD activities conducted by Scientific Liaison in collaboration with Geneva’s R&D and BD team for the disease unit:
- Lead and manage in coordination with the BD/legal and R&D teams, all interactions with portfolio partners related to agreements and contractual matters, including developing partnering strategy in coordination with the BD Director
- Lead, in coordination with the BD and R&D teams, the cultivation and management of strategic relationships with external partners and stakeholders (except for advocacy stakeholders) with a view to optimizing their long-term operations and value to the programmes and patients
- Insure timely and efficient communication among the DNDi stakeholders and with partners and facilitate exchanges between external partners and the DNDi project teams
- Hold regular updates with partners
- Keep track of the activities with partners and work with the BD Director and R&D team to identify opportunities for synergies and potential conflicts
- Participate in the project team meetings for the disease area(s) and raise matters of BD, with the BD/legal team
• Explore potential to include Indian companies in the Drug Discovery Booster
• Explore potential to replicate Lead Optimization Latin America (LOLA) in India (LOCI) with stakeholders interested in drug discovery activities
• Secure local partnerships and play the role of facilitator between external partners and health organizations to secure sustainable supply of chemicals
• Increase efforts to diversify pool of industrial partners in Asia beyond India
• Establish a list of CDMO and pre-clinical CROs and prioritize them according to their broad expertise (API & DP, GLP), quality, knowledge of EU and USA regulatory requirements to establish list of PP
• Increase DNDi visibility in the region through BD exposure

Advanced post graduate degree or graduate degree with equivalent in experience to reach Master level
Experience
- Between 8 to 10 years in a similar role at a senior level
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and matrix structure
- Experience of working in public and private sector is desirable
- Experience of working in an international environment is desirable
Other requirements
- Fluency in English
- Proficiency in local languages desirable
- Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
