Pharmacology

The Institute of Life Sciences was conceived in the context of globalization, to foster research competence in India and to bridge the divide between academic research and the pharmaceutical & biotechnology industries. The institute was incorporated as a non-profit entity under Section 25 of the Indian companies act, facilitating operational autonomy. Construction of the ILS building comprising 44 labs and an administrative block and spanning -130,000 sq.ft. in area, began in 2004 and was completed in January 2007.

MM College of Pharmacy (MMCP), under the aegis of MM University Mullana is the premier Institute of international level in the state of Haryana, offering quality education in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Graduate, Post Graduate and Doctoral (Ph.D) levels. All the Courses run ar.d undertaken by MMCP are duly approved by various Regulatory Bodies, viz., All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), New Delhi and Govt, of Haryana.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi, the apex body in India for the formulation, coordination and promotion of biomedical research, is one of the oldest medical research bodies in the world. As early as in 1911, the Government of India set up the Indian Research Fund Association (IRFA) with the specific objective of sponsoring and coordinating medical research in the country. After independence, several important changes were made in the organisation and the activities of the IRFA.

Agharkar Research Institute (ARI) is an autonomous, grant-in-aid research institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Goverment of India. It was established in 1946 by the Maharashtra Association for the Cultivation of Science as MACS Research Institute and renamed as ARI in 1992 in honour and memory of its founder Director, late Professor S.P. Agharkar.

A.M. Reddy Memorial College of Pharmacy was founded in 2003 by NRIs Sri. Atluri Srinivasa Reddy and Mrs. Atluri Santhi under Atluri Mastan Reddy Educational Society, which is situated at Petlurivaripalem, Narasaraopet. The Pharmacy department of BITS Pilani is one of the few early schools of Pharmacy in India. Established in 1950, under the able leadership of (Late) Prof. M. L. Schroff, Father of Pharmacy Education in India, it blossomed into one of the most sought after Schools of Pharmacy in India due to its broad-based education system and university-industry linkages, which is the hallmark of BITS, Pilani.
In the year of 2011, the Department of Pharmacy has completed 60 years of its existence as a premier ins titution in the field of Pharmacy Education and Research in India and abroad. Alumni are well placed in India as well as abroad in various pharmaceutical companies, government organizations like drug control, research laboratories, etc., and in several well-known academic institutions.

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for TWO project positions to work on the following projects sponsored by Government of India under the supervision of Prof. P. Yogeeswari and Prof. D. Sriram Drug Discovery Research Group, Department of Pharmacy, BITS-Pilani, Hyderabad campus.
