SumandeepVidyapeeth was established on 17th January 2007 and is declared as Deemed to be university u/s 3 of UGC Act, 1956. Raja Bahadur Venkat Rama Reddy was born on August 22, 1869, in a middle class family at Rayanpet in Wanaparthy. He lost his parents early in his childhood and was brought up by his uncle, William Wahab, who had a great influence on him. He had great passion for education which made him pursue further studies, in spite of opposition from his relatives. At the age of 18, Venkat Rama Reddy entered the police service of the erstwhile Hyderabad State and rose to the position of Police Commissioner of Hyderabad City, the first Hindu to do so. The Nizam of Hyderabad honored Sri Venkat Rama Reddy with the title of “Raja Bahadur” in recognition of his services to the state.

The college was inaugurated on 4th July 1945 by Sir Cattamanchi Ramalinga Reddy, the distinguished educationist and the then Vice-Chancellor, Andhra University and the college was named after him "Sir C.R. Reddy Municipal College". The college started functioning as a second grade college with Sri D.S. Subrahmanyam as the Founder Principal. A constitution was adopted for the Governing Body in the year 1947, according to which the word "Municipal" was dropped for the original name of the college. The college name to be treated as an institution under Private Management by the Government from 1947.

Realizing the increasing importance of Pharmacy as a profession Sri.Y.V.Anjaneyulu, Chairman of Chalapathi Educational Society with his futuristic vision established Chalapathi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (CIPS) at Lam in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. It is located at about 8 K.M. from Guntur Town towards Amaravathi.  Guntur is well connected by bus or train from Vijayawada (40 min), Hyderabad (4.30 hrs.) and Chennai (7 hrs.) and is on the N.H.-5 connecting Chennai and Calcutta. Pleanty of local transport is arrived from Guntur town to the college campus.
