Department of Food and Drug Administration was carved out as an Independent department from the Health Department in the State of Haryana on January 4,2011 vide notification No. 4/3/2008-1HB-II dated 04.01.2011 for regulations of the Food Standard & Safety Act 2006 & Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940 & Rules 1945 more effectively.

National Institute of Technology is a premier Technical Institute of the region. The institute started working as Regional Engineering College in 1963. Like other Regional Engineering Colleges of India this institution too, had been a joint enterprise of the State and Central Governments. This Institute was conferred upon status of Deemed University on June 26, 2002. Since then it has been renamed as National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra.
