National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Kolkata (NIPER-K) was created in 2007 under the aegis of Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizer as a centre of excellence for higher education, research and development in Pharmaceutical Sciences. NIPER Kolkata has established Centre for Marine therapeutics (CMT), and is involved in development of new process for Marine Therapeutics, New Chemical Entity (NCE) from Marine sources.

Chittaranjan Cancer Hospital (CCH) was established with the support of Dr. B.C.Roy, an eminent physician and then the Chief Minister of West Bengal. The hospital was formally inaugurated by Prof. Madam J.Curie in January 2, 1950 and named after Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das, as a tribute to and in the acknowledgement of the enormous donation of his land and property for the cause. Initially this was a Cancer -treatment Centre which gradually expanded its activities in basic and clinical -research with the assistance from government funding organizations.

Pharma Ascent 2023 was held on 2nd April, 2023. Students from different colleges and universities were participated in pre GPAT Exam.
