Post : Senior Data Analyst

Applications are invited for the position of Project Linked Persons for extramural projects to be executed by the National institute of Biomedical Genomics, Kalyani. Walk-In-Interview will be conducted for the position of Senior Data Analyst (Project Linked Persons) for an initial period of 3 months. Selected applicants will be appointed for a period of 3 Months. The tenure of appointment may be extended depending on performance and availability of funds

Name of the Project - Diabetic Retinopathy Microbiome Study-India (DRMS-India)

Project Description :
Diabetes affects 10% of Indian adults, with diabetic retinopathy [DR] impactingup to 20%, causing irreversible vision loss in 4%. Current DR treatments often have low success rates and lengthy procedures. Recent research in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh highlighted links between gut bacteria and DR in those with diabetes. The DRMS aims to deepen this connection by analyzing stoolsamples from people with diabetes, diabetes-related retinopathy, and those without health issues. Participants will provide stool and blood samples at no cost. Stool DNA analysis will identify bacteria, while blood tests will assess diabetes levels and related conditions routinely checked in diabetics. This study seeks to shed more light on the role of gut bacteria in DR progression for better understanding and potential treatment advancements.
In this project the data analyst applicant will be responsible for handling high throughput human and microbiome sequence data on a daily basis. He/she will catalogue the changes in bacterial, viral, and fungalcomposition and its gene families, pathways from human microbiome samples using whole shotgun metagenome sequencing along with highlighting the novel interplay between host and metagenomic correlates in diseased individuals.

Essential Education Qualification :
M.Sc./ M. Tech in Life Science or equivalent with at least 4 years hands on research experience in bioinformatic analysis of genomic/met agenomic data or Ph.D. in Life Science or equivalent with expertise in bioinformatic s of genomic/met agenomic data
Age limit : 40 years

Desirable Qualification
1. Hands on experience in DNA sequence data analysis from FASTQ files, particularly on Human genomic or Metagenomic samples using Standard data analysis pipeline.
2. Proficiency in Shotgun Metagenomics and 16S rRNA Gene Sequence dataanalysis
3. Good knowledge in Perl/Python, Linux, and R programming
4. Proficiency in English and good communication skills
Nature of work & Responsibilities
1. Analysis of DNA, RNAsequence files from massively - parallel sequencing platforms, andpreparing summariesand reports of data analysis.
2. Performing day to daystatistical analysis onthe analyzed data and assisting the Project PIfor data interpretationand coordination with other participating centers
3. Development of newer analysispipelines focusing onhuman genomic and metagenomic data analysis
4. Management of the documents and procurement of the items pertaining to the project

Consolidated and fixed monthly emolument (Rs.) : Rs. 50,000/-

Online Interview : Date 19-09-2024 from 10.30 AM onwards.
1. This position is contractual, and appointments will be initially for three months, which is extendable depending upon performance and requirements of the project.
