Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer, ACTREC, is a unique Institute under the wing of Tata Memorial Centre and a grant-in-aid Institution of the Department of Atomic Energy. ACTREC conducts a PhD program in Life Sciences that is affiliated with the Homi Bhabha National Institute (a deemed university under category A by MHRD, Govt. of India). Fulfilling its ‘bench-to- bedside’ mandate, the Institute provides a highly conducive environment for world-class cancer research.

Gujarat Government has recognized the importance of the science of biotechnology and its potentiality.

NIT Rourkela is one of the premier national level institutions for technical education in the country and is funded by the Government of India. Government of India has elevated the Regional Engineering College, Rourkela to a deemed university under the name of National Institute of Technology, Rourkela.  The main objective of the Institute is to produce quality Engineers and Scientists in Graduate and Post-Graduate levels in various branches of Engineering and Science.

Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani is a Deemed to be University established vide Sec.3 of the UGC Act,1956. Regional Centre for Biotechnology is an institution of national importance and statutory body established by the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India with regional and global partnerships synergizing with the programmes of UNESCO as a Category II Centre. The primary focus of RCB is to provide world class education, training and conduct innovative research at the interface of multiple disciplines to create high quality human resource in disciplinary and interdisciplinary areas of biotechnology in a globally competitive research milieu.

Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS) provides an excellent opportunity for young and motivated researchers to pursue a career in basic and applied Life Sciences research. DIPAS endeavors to optimize human performance under extreme operational environments using physiological, biochemical, nutritional and ergonomic approach. The laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to conduct human studies, animal and in-vitro experimentation with an interdisciplinary approach.

NIPER Ahmedabad was initiated with three specializations Biotechnology, Natural Products and Pharmaceutics and over the period of time three more specialisations Pharmaceutical Analysis, Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacology and Toxicology were added in 2010. Subsequently in 2011, to cater the needs of Medical device industry in India, another feather was added to the cap of NIPER Ahmedabad in the form of specialisation in Medical Devices.

The AIIMS, New Delhi model will be adopted and adapted. Unlike the Postgraduate Institutes which lack the basic departments like Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, General Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology etc, the new AIIMS will have these departments as well as the superspecialty departments like neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, urology, endocrinology etc.
