  • The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Libtayo (cemiplimab-rwlc) injection for intravenous use for the treatment of patients with metastatic cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC) or locally advanced CSCC who are not candidates for curative surgery or curative radiation. This is the first FDA approval of a drug specifically for advanced CSCC.

  • U.S. Food and Drug Administration permitted marketing of ClonoSEQ assay, a next generation sequencing (NGS)-based test for minimal residual disease (MRD) in patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) or multiple myeloma. MRD is a measure of the amount of cancer cells remaining in a person’s bone marrow.

  • Geetanjali Institute of Pharmacy (GIP), Geetanjali University, Udaipur has celebrated the World Pharmacists Day on 25th September, 2018. This year’s theme is “Pharmacists: Your medicines experts”. GIP organized various events like literary competition (Pharma Quiz, Essay writing and Debate); cultural (Song/Dance competition, Drama); blood donation camp and other including general awareness rally to celebrate the world Pharmacist day.

    One day National Workshop on “Stress Free Health Care Professionals: A Self Care and Wellness Workshop”, sponsored by Association of Pharmaceuticals Teachers of India (APTI)  conducted by Geetanjali Institute of Pharmacy, Geetanjali University, Udaipur (GIP) on 18th August, 2018. The event brought together around 100 Academicians, Scientists, Doctors, Research Scholars, Dentists, Post-doctoral fellows, Nursing staff, Health care Professionals and PG medical students from different states, all over India.
    The workshop was inaugurated with lighting the lamp in the presence of mother Saraswati by the guests Dr. N. K. Sharma, GM at JK Tyres and corporate trainer, Kishore Pujari, CEO, Geetanjali Hospital, Dr. Ramesh Patel, Dr. Ashok Dashora, Dr. Anju Goyal and Dr. Udichi Kataria.

  • The European Medicines Agency's (EMA) Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) has recommended granting a marketing authorisation for the gene therapy Luxturna (voretigene neparvovec), for the treatment of adults and children suffering from inherited retinal dystrophy caused by RPE65 gene mutations, a rare genetic disorder which causes vision loss and usually leads to blindness.
