Pondicherry University is outstanding among the Central Universities in India. Teaching and research are its primary functions as in other Central Universities. In addition, it has also affiliated colleges located in Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe, Yanam and the Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The Union Territory of Lakshadweep is also expected to have a college affiliated to Pondicherry University in the near future.

1. Junior Research Fellowship (Nine)
Minimum qualifications: M.Sc./ M.Tech./ M.V.Sc. in Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Bioinformatics/ Microbiology/ Pharmacology/ Chemical Sciences or any other areas of the Life Sciences with minimum 55% marks. Candidates must have cleared UGC/CSIR JRF/NET or equivalent examination. Candidates whose M.Sc. results are awaited can also apply. Candidates appearing for Pondicherry University Entrance Examination would also be considered on merit basis.
Age Limit: 28 years. The upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to scheduled castes/tribes, and women, physically handicapped and OBC applicants.
Emoluments: as per DBT norms.
2. Senior Research Fellowship (Three)
Minimum qualifications: M.Sc./ M.Tech./ M.V.Sc in Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics/ Microbiology / Pharmacology or any other areas of the life sciences with minimum 55% marks and with two years of research work experience as evidenced by published papers in standard refereed journals.
Desirable: Specialization in Toxicology/Cancer Biology/Cell & Reproductive Biology/ Molecular Biology/Immunology/Proteomics /Genomics/ Natural Products/Bioinformatics or related area.
Age Limit: 32 years. The upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to scheduled castes/tribes, and women, physically handicapped and OBC applicants.

3. Technical Officer Grade- I, (One)
Minimum qualifications: B.E./B. Tech./ M.Sc./ in Instrumentation or related areas with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade.
Desirable: M.E./M.Tech./Ph.D. in Instrumentation or related area.
Age Limit: Maximum 35 years.
Emoluments: Rs. 20,000/-pm (fixed).
4. Technical Assistant (One)
Minimum qualifications: B.Sc. in any branch of Life Sciences with 55% or equivalent. Two years experience in relevant science laboratory.
Desirable: Good command over English, and Computer program with experience in handling laboratory equipments and biological materials.
Age Limit: Maximum 30 years.
Emoluments: Rs. 15,000/-pm (fixed).
