The National Institute of Research in Tribal Health (NIRTH), Jabalpur is one of the 30 health research institutes working under the aegis of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Sprawling in a lush-green 44 acre campus located in the state of Madhya Pradesh - the heart of India, ICMR-NIRTH is surrounded by thickly-forested tribal dominated areas, and is the only publicly funded organization dedicated to research on health of tribes of the country. Considering health of aboriginals is of prime national importance, biomedical scientists of ICMR-NIRTH with diverse training and expertise, supported by 100-plus technical staff and several scientific staff of different time-bound research projects are putting tireless endeavor in collaboration with state government health officials, to not only diagnose and intervene different diseases prevalent in tribes, but also perform high-end biomedical research using modern tools to understand the mechanism of diseases and utilize the knowhow to devise novel methods of intervention and control.

Name of Project - “Mental Health and Social Stigma among healthcare personnel involved in the management of COVID-19 patient in India” – For a period of Two (2) months.

Contract Field Investigator 2 Posts : (1 ST, 1UR)
Essential Qualification : Graduate in Science / relevant subject / from recognized University with three years experience from a recognized Institution or Master degree in the relevant subject.
Desirable Qualification : Research experience in related field work and analysis and knowledge of computer applications.
Age : Not exceeding 30 years. Relaxable up to 5 years for ST Candidates as per DOPT GOI.
Consolidated salary : Rs. 31,000/- per month
Work Responsibility : To take telephonic interview from the healthcare workers. Data compilation and any other work assigned by the PI.

Name of Project - “Biomarkers of leprosy using comparative transcriptomics-RLS project” – For a period of Four (4) months and may be extended up to July 2021

Project Research Associate I, 1 Post- (UR)
Essential Qualification : Ph.D. or equivalent degree or having 3 years of research, teaching and design and development experience after Master Degree in Life Science subject or in Computational Biology or Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Desirable Qualification : Research experience in genomic/proteomic aspects of Leprosy/mycobacterial diseases and first-author peer reviewed research articles in the related field, publication in computational biology of mycobacterial diseases on NGS data analysis.
Age : Not exceeding 40 Years. 2 Years age relaxation for woman candidates.
Consolidated salary : Rs.47,000 + HRA per month
Work Responsibility : Computational analysis of bioinformatic data, phylogenetic analysis, genomic and proteomic analysis of Mycobacterial genomes and their comparative genomic characterization, NGS lib prep work, data mining, manuscript and review compilation and contribution in routine functioning of the lab.

Project Research Assistant 1 Post – (OBC)
Essential Qualification : Graduate in Life Science from a recognized university with three years work experience from a recognized Institution or Master’s degree in Life Science subject.
Desirable Qualification : Preference will be given to those who have training/research job experience in leprosy.
Age : Not exceeding 30 Years. Relaxable up to three year for OBC candidates as per DOPT GOI
Consolidated salary : Rs. 31,000/- per month
Work Responsibility : Molecular tests for detection of mycobacterial DNA, genotyping of leprosy bacilli from clinical specimens, routine lab work such as preparation of reagents, and other works related to lab as assigned by PI for completion of project work.

Name of Project - “Mobile application for immunization data in India (MAIDI)” – For a period of Nine (9) months.

Project Technical Officer – 1 Post-(SC)
Essential Qualification : Graduate in Science /Social Science/Social Work from a recognized university with five years work experience from a recognized Institution or Master’s degree in Science /Social Science/Social Work.
Desirable Qualification : Experience of carrying out field work in rural/tribal areas. Knowledge of immunization schemes and computer application.
Age : Not exceeding 30 Years. Relaxable up to 5 year for SC candidates as per DOPT GOI
Consolidated salary : Rs. 32,000/-
Work Responsibility : The candidate will be responsible for monitoring and supervision of field work and intervention in selected PHC/Sub-centres/villages of MP. Any other responsibilities assigned by the PI/Director

Name of Project – “Enhancing diagnostic facility of COVID-19 at ICMR-NIRTH, Jabalpur”– For a period of Six (6) months.

Contract Technical Assistant 2 Posts – (1 EWS, 1 UR)
Essential Qualification : Graduate in Life Science subject relevant to the present need with three years work experience. Or Master degree in the relevant subjects.
Desirable Qualification : Experience of carrying out field work in rural/tribal areas. Knowledge of immunization schemes and computer application.
Age : Not exceeding 30 Years.
Consolidated salary : Rs. 31,000/- Per month
Work Responsibility : To conduct COVID-19 diagnosis using molecular tests (individual may have to work in shifts).

Name of Project – “Centre for the studies of complex malaria in India-2”– For a period of one year.

Project Research Associate I - 1 Post- (UR)
Essential Qualification : Ph.D. or equivalent degree or having 3 years of research, teaching and design and development experience after Master Degree in Life Science subject or in Computational Biology or Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Desirable Qualification : Candidates with experience in genomics, bioinformatics, drug designing will be preferred
Age : Not exceeding 40 Years. 2 Years age relaxation for woman candidates.
Consolidated salary : Rs.47,000 + HRA per month
Work Responsibility : To conduct research in malaria genomics, DNA sequence analysis, field work or other work assigned by the Director/ Principal Investigator. Job involves research in tribal areas of Madhya Pradesh/ Chhattisgarh, and North-East States of India.

Junior Project Research Fellow- 1 Post – (UR)
Essential Qualification : Post Graduate degree in any branch of Life Sciences from a recognized university.
Desirable Qualification : Candidates with working experience in Molecular Biology tools and/ or Bioinformatics will be preferred.
Age : Not exceeding 30 years
Consolidated salary : Rs. 16,000/- per month
Work Responsibility : Will be responsible for field and laboratory based work or any other work assigned by the Director/ Principal Investigator. Job involves research in tribal areas of Madhya Pradesh/ Chhattisgarh, and North- East States of India.

Terms & Conditions
1. Qualification & experience should be in relevant discipline/field and from an Institution of repute. Experience should have been gained after acquiring the minimum essential qualification.
2. Mere fulfilling the essential qualification does not guarantee the selection.
3. Persons already in regular time scale service under any Government Department / Organization are not eligible.
4. Candidates who will be interviewed online, if they are selected will have to produce original documents of their qualification age and experience before joining. If they are not found entitled, their selection will be cancelled immediately.
5. Candidates are advised to keep looking at the website of this Institute for any change, result or any other information.
6. Departmental candidates or candidates working/have worked on project of ICMR Institutes/ Centre’s shall be given age relaxation to minimum of five years or a completed months/year based on earlier project services, whichever is less, they meet the essential qualification and experience prescribed for the post, with a view to provide them opportunity to compare with other candidates.
7. If the candidates of reserved category are not available, appointment will be made from the candidates of other categories as per the recommendations of the selection committee and future vacancy filled from the candidates of relevant categories.
8. Age relaxation against post earmarked for reserved candidates will be as per Govt. of India Norms. No relaxation will be allowed in unreserved posts.
9. Age will be reckoned from last date of receipt of application i.e. 14/09/2020
10. Above post is contractual for the duration offered may or may not be renewed subject to satisfactory performance and requirement.

12. Stipend/consolidated emoluments of the project positions may vary from time to time 13. No TA DA will be paid and candidate has to arrange transport/accommodation themselves for discussion meeting.

16. Appointment on project consultant mode is purely temporary and candidates shall have no claim for regular appointment either in ICMR-NIRTH, Jabalpur or ICMR or any organization of Govt. of India.

18. The number of vacancies may vary according to requirement at later stage.
