BFI-Biome Programme

 The Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP) and Blockchain for Impact (BFI) have partnered under the aegis of the BFI-Biome Virtual Network Program to help nurture talented innovators and support the development of indigenous, cost-effective solutions. This program aims to improve public health and healthcare access in India.

Introduction
Innovation and entrepreneurship in medical devices are crucial for addressing emerging healthcare challenges and leveraging new technologies. However, innovators often face obstacles in the journey from ideation to prototyping. The BFI Biome Network in collaboration with C-CAMP aims to bridge this gap by providing aspiring innovators and promising healthcare technologies/products with fellowships, kick-start initiatives, and mentorship to streamline biomedical advancements.

Objectives
The BFI Biome Network, in partnership with the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP), aims to catalyze and accelerate transformative healthcare solutions through cutting-edge biomedical innovation.

Program Offerings
BFI Biome C-CAMP Fellowship 
• Monthly fellowships up to Rs. 50,000 for 6-9 months for Biomedical Entrepreneurs 
BFI Biome C-CAMP Kickstarter Initiative
• Financial support up to Rs. 11 lakh for Biomedical Startups.
Additional Benefits Under this Program
• Access to C-CAMP guidance and support from technical and industry experts for both Biomedical Entrepreneurs and Biomedical Startups.
• Access to potential investors and partners.
• Workshops and training on key business and technical skills.


Eligibility Criteria
Individual Innovators/Entrepreneurs in Residence (EiRs) :
• Indian citizen, 18+ years of age
• Educational background: Postgraduate degree (M.Sc., M.S., M.Tech., M.Phil., MD) or Ph.D. in Life Science/Biomedical Sciences/Medtech devices.
Note : Students currently pursuing Postgraduate or Ph.D. programs at the time of application are not eligible.

Innovators advancing biomedical technology/ product (Biomedical Startups)
• Should have a registered Startup
• Indian citizen, 18+ years of age
• Startup incorporated in India
• 51% equity held by Indian citizens
• Less than 7 years old
• Turnover not exceeding Rs. 25 lakh
• Intellectual Property (IP) vested with the startup
Note : Preference given to technology-based ideas, innovations, founders with technical skills or background, and startups with a roadmap for commercialization.


Exclusions
The BFI Biome Program at C-CAMP does not support EiRs or startups working on services in the biomedical field, e-commerce of biomedical devices, academic projects, or student internships.
Focus Areas : The program focuses exclusively on life sciences working on biomedical innovations.
