Openings for Life Sciences, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology candidates at ICAR-NBPGR

National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources, New Delhi and Bioversity International-India, New Delhi in collaboration with the Asia-Pacific Association for Agricultural Research Insti-tutes Bangkok, are organizing the Eighth International Training Course on In Vitro and Cryopreservation Approaches for Conservation of Plant Genetic Resources’ from Nov. 5-19, 2019.

Applications are invited for one post of Project Associate-II , one post of Project Associate-II/SRF, one post of Project Scientist-I and one post of Project Scientist-II at ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi as mentioned below.

Project Associate-II (1)
Sub Project : Sub Project 1, Component - 1: Germplasm genomics for trait discovery. (1012152)
Emoluments : I. Rs.35000+27% HRA to Scholars who are selected through a) National Eligibility Tests- CSIR-UGC NET or GATE b) National level Examinations conducted by central government departments and their agencies and departments II. Rs.28000+27% HRA for others who do not fall under (I) above
Qualification : Essential Qualification (i) Master's Degree in Science with specialization in Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics/ Molecular Biology / Life sciences from a recognized university or equivalent.
(ii) 2 years of experience in research and development in industrial and academic institutions or science and technology organizations and scientific activities and services. Desirable Qualification Experience in analyzing high throughput SNP genotyping, re- sequencing and transcriptomics data

Project Associate- II / SRF (1)
Sub Project : Sub Project-6, Component-1 : Coordination Unit. (1012159)
Emoluments : Rs.42000+27% HRA to Scholars who are selected through a) National Eligibility Tests- CSIR-UGC NET or GATE
b) National level Examinations conducted by central government departments and their agencies and departments
Qualification : Essential Qualification i) Master’s Degree in Science with specialization in Biotechnology / Bioinformatics / Molecular Biology / Life Sciences from a recognized university or equivalent with 4 years/5 years of Bachelor’s degree.
ii) Those with 3 years bachelor’s degree must have UGC/CSIR/ICAR- NET/GATE qualification.
iii) 2 years of experience in research and development in industrial and academic institutions or science and technology organizations and scientific activities and services
Desirable Qualification : Experience in analyzing high throughput SNP genotyping, re- sequencing and transcriptomics data

Project Scientist-I (1)
Sub Project : Sub Project-5, Component-1: Capacity building in the area of genomic selection and high throughput phenotyping and its integration in national breeding programs. (1012158)
Emoluments : Rs. 56000+27% HRA Increment of 5% for every 2 years of experience subject to performance review
Qualification : Essential Qualification Master’s degree in engineering or technology or Doctoral degree in Life science/ Plant Biotechnology/ Molecular Biology/ Bioinformatics or any other related field from a recognized university or equivalent.
Desirable Qualification : Knowledge of Statistical and Computational Genomics/ Bioinformatics, experience in analyzing high throughput SNP genotyping data, NGS data, re- sequencing and transcriptomics data.

Project Scientist-II (1)
Sub Project : Sub Project 2, Component-8: Characterization and evaluation of wheat germplasm lines for biotic stress resistance.
Emoluments : Rs. 67000+27% HRA Increment of 5% for every 2 years of experience subject to performance review
Qualification : Essential Qualification i) Master’s degree in engineering or technology or Doctoral degree in Life science/ Plant Biotechnology/ Molecular Biology or any other related field from a recognized university or equivalent.
ii) 3 years of experience in research and development in industrial and academic institutions or science and technology organizations and scientific activities and services.
Desirable Qualification : Knowledge of Statistical and Computational Genomics/ Bioinformatics, experience in analyzing high throughput SNP genotyping, re-sequencing and NGS data.

Age Limit : The upper age limit for the post of Project Associate-II & Project Scientist-I is 35 years and Project Scientist-II is 40 years as on the date of interview. Relaxation in upper age limit to women (5 years), SC/ST (5 years), OBC (3 years), PwD (10 years). Age for and other eligible categories shall be applicable as per GOI/ICAR rules.

General Terms and Conditions
• Candidates are requested to ensure their eligibility like age, qualification etc. before appearing for the interview
• Candidates having essential qualification will only be considered for interview.
• No TA/DA and official accommodation will be provided for appearing in the interview.
• The post is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. The selected candidate has no right to claim for regularization or absorption whatsoever in ICAR/NBPGR
• The decision of Director of the institute will be final and binding in all aspects.
• The Director reserves the right to terminate the contract of job as mentioned above, even before the completion of the project for which no appeal thereof shall be entertained.
Candidates are required to send scanned pdf copy of all the relevant certificates/ mark sheets etc., with an application with full bio-data affixing a passport size photograph on the top. The originals will be verified at the time of joining.
• If any information of the candidate is found to be incorrect or concealing any facts, his/her candidature to the interview/ selection to the post is liable to be cancelled at any stage.
• Emoluments may be paid as per satisfaction of the work by the PI and fund availability by the funding agency.
• In case of any disputes, it will be resolved in the jurisdiction of New Delhi only.
