The National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS) took birth as National Tissue Culture Facility in March 11, 1986 with a mandate of basic research, teaching & training, and as a national repository for cell lines/hybridomas etc. The centre is located in the midst of academically enriched environment of University of Pune campus, Pune.
NCCS invites applications for following temporary positions in collaborative project between NCCS and a reputed Pharmaceutical Company.
Post: Principal Scientist(01) , Research Scientist(01) , Project Assistant(01)
Principal Scientist (One Post)
Age Limit: 65 years
Responsibilities:
The scientist will lead the team and will be responsible to plan and deliver the tasks in the project The scientist will track progress for milestones and time lines, will conduct weekly meetings to discuss data generated by lab associates, review progress and coordinate with the industry counterpart at regular intervals. Review all protocols and experimental designs prior to assigning experimental studies to staff.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
PhD in cell biology/ molecular biology/applied biology/biotechnology or in any discipline related to biological sciences. Should have more than 25 years of research experience with proven track record in cell biology /cancer biology/ stem cell biology in a reputed institute. Should have strong background in oncology and publications in peer reviewed international journals, experience in handling extramural funded projects from government and/or industries, collaborative projects with institutions and universities.
Desirable: - Highly motivated, committed person with good organizational skills and leadership qualities.
Emoluments:Rs. 1,70,000/- p.m.
Research Scientist(One Post)
Age Limit: 35 years
Responsibilities:
The position is a hands -on- position for performing cell based assays and experiments in the area of cell & molecular biology. The selected candidate will design, perform experiments, analyze and report the results to project leader. The scientist will supervise and monitor day-to- day progress in experiments performed by junior staff. Will ensure that the log books and record books are maintained up to date. Will also provide training when required to lab members.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:-
PhD in cellbiology/molecular, biology/applied biology/biotechnology or in any discipline related to biological sciences. Experience of a minimum of 2 years post-doctoral experience in cell biology/ cancer biology /stem cell biology/ cell signaling documented by publications in peer reviewed international journals.
Desirable: Experience in guiding/supervising project trainees/ fellows at master’s level.
Emoluments: Rs. 40,000/- p.m. during the 1st year and Rs. 45,000/- p.m. in the 2nd year of the project.
Project Assistant (One Post)
Age Limit: 32 years
Responsibilities:
Assist in conducting experiments and perform other laboratory related duties. Maintain cell lines, set up cell culture assays such as viability test, IC-50 studies, perform western blotting, protein purification. The incumbent will document observations and maintain record book systematically.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:-
Master’s degree (M.Sc or M.Tech) in biology/biochemistry/ biotechnology/ molecular biology/microbiology or any other discipline related to biological sciences Experience in cell culture techniques- maintenance of cell lines, cell freezing and revival, viability assays and western blotting. Should be prepared to travel for conducting experiments in collaborative institution.
Desirable: - Exposure to protein biochemistry and experience in protein purification methods. Publication/s in national or international journals.
Emoluments: Rs. 16,000/- p.m. for the 1st year and Rs. 18,000/- p.m. for the 2nd year.

P. Pune University Campos, Post: Ganeshkhind, Pune - 411 007, Maharashtra, India on or before 26.05.2016. The A4 size envelope containing the application must be super-scribed in bold letters on the top as under; “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF EXTRAMURAL PROJECT.
2) List of shortlisted candidates called for interview will be published on our institute website on or after 02/06/2016.
3) Applications received after the due date and/or without the copies of the required certificates/documents will not be considered. Incomplete applications will be strictly rejected. Candidates must fill up the latest prescribed application format as mentioned above only which is available with this advt.
4) Mere fulfilling the minimum prescribed qualifications and experience will not vest any right in a candidate for calling for interview. The Centre reserves the right to call for interview only those candidates who in its opinion are likely to be suitable. However, no any correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
5) The Director, NCCS reserves the right to enhance/reduce the number of posts and also cancel the recruitment process.
6)SC/ST/OBC candidates must produce proof of their caste certificate from appropriate authority. In addition, OBC candidates must also produce latest/valid non-creamy layer certificate in the prescribed form for claiming the reservation benefits.
7) 5% Marks relaxation will be given to SC/ST candidates i.e. minimum of 50 % marks.
8) Candidates should specifically note that due to postal delay applications received after the closing date will not be entertained by this institute and no correspondence in this regard will note be entertained.
9) All the above advertised positions are filled up purely on temporary basis for the limited time period on the project funded by the private company. The positions will automatically co-terminus on the completion of the project tenure.
10) Candidates should mention title of the thesis, list of publications with full references in the application form.
11) Upper age limit will be considered as on closing date of receipt of application. Age relaxation of 5 years in case of SC/STAVomen/PH candidates and 3 years in case of OBC candidates will be given as per Government of India rules. Reservation as per Govt, of India norms will be followed.
12) No TA will be paid for attending the interview.
13) Selected candidates will have to join duty immediately on receipt of the offer of appointment.
