Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council is a not-for-profit Section 8, Schedule B, Public Sector Enterprise, under Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India as an Interface Agency to strengthen and empower the emerging Biotech enterprise to undertake strategic research and innovation, addressing nationally relevant product development needs. Post : Sr. Consultant – Strategic Partnership and Entrepreneurship Development (SPED)

Consolidated Remuneration : The consolidated fee for Sr. Consultant shall be Rs. 1,25,000/- per month

Essential Qualification : 4-years Bachelors/ Master’s degree program from a recognized institute in Life Sciences / Pharma / Bio-medical sciences/ any other allied biological sciences domain; Or Master’s in Business Administration / Entrepreneurship / Public Policy / Public Health with a 3-year bachelor’s degree in life sciences
Desirable Qualifications : PhD in Life Sciences / other allied sciences domain. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Experience : Between 11 to 19 years with minimum 5 years Industry experience in Product/ Technology Development/ Raising investments; who is Involved in the startup ecosystem either as a technical mentor/ investor/ service provider with demonstrated outcome.
Key Responsibilities
• Responsibilities for Implementation of NBM-PMU which includes - monitoring of all grantees of your focus area engaging experts both technical and financial, working closely with the Scientific and Technical Advisory groups for project review and supervising grant management activities.
• Understand team objectives and cooperate and collaborate with others to achieve them.
• Adhere to internal and external compliance responsibilities in a timely manner.
• Working with Legal and Finance to get all necessary contracts and agreements ready.
• Coordinating with stakeholders involved in NBM- PMU management.
• Coordination and administration of all aspects of new and ongoing projects including planning and implementation.
• Ensure timely execution of all activities.
• Responsible for supporting the organization of investigators meetings, Interaction and Advisory Group Discussion including international conferences and workshops.
• In addition to scientific expertise, the Senior Program Officer/Program officer must also bring in passion, humility, and critical thinking for the unique problems and the questions relevant to BIRAC’s mission.
• To work and communicate with grantees and key stakeholders.
Maximum Age : 50 Years as on closing date of vacancy.
Tenure : The appointment shall be under ‘Contract for Service’ initially for a period of three (03) years or Co- terminus with the project, whichever is earlier. The present duration of the project is till June’2024. Renewal of the contract shall depend on the extension of the Project or need for continuance of service, based on satisfactory performance.
Job Description : BIRAC has been able to inculcate a culture of biotech entrepreneurship in the country. The consultant would get an opportunity to work with SPED team and contribute in promoting and strengthening of innovation and entrepreneurship development activities in the biotech sector at national level.
Reporting : The person will be working with respective program leads and reporting to Head-SPED.
