Applications are invited for post of Research Associate at NIPGR

The facility is affiliated with National Institute of Plant Genome Research, New Delhi (NIPGR) and serve to facilitate genotyping services with private service providers and then advanced these, in a focused way, to meet the goal of food and nutritional security through genomics led breeding. The fundamental principle is relatively simple create and charter an entity with express purpose of serving crop or plant varietal genotyping and characterization in India. It will also help to overcome legal hurdles in Material Transfer, IPR protection, etc.

Post : Research Associate-III (One Post)

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the purely temporary position of one Research Associate- III in the DBT Multi-institutional project “Characterization of chickpea germplasm resource to accelerate genomics- assisted crop improvement”, under mission programme of “Characterization of genetic resources”, under the supervision of Dr. Senthil-Kumar Muthappa, Scientist, NIPGR.

Emoluments : Rs. 54000/- plus 24% HRA per month as sanctioned in the project.
Eligibility Criteria : Candidates having a PhD degree in the discipline bioinformatics/computational biology/statistics/mathematics/computer science/life science and any related field with strong publication record in the areas mentioned above (at least one research paper in SCI journal) and fulfil the DST/DBT norms & guidelines are eligible to apply. The project work requires prior work experience in interactive database/web resource development/maintenance, R programming language, ANN or similar, RNAseq/omics data analysis along with knowledge in HTML/CSS scripting, MySQL, PHP, fluency in linux and basics of Javascript. The candidate is expected to develop DRR-web resource (example, SCIPdb-NIPGR), use the database for biological interpretation using machine learning/DL/suitable AI along with large scale data visualization tools. The candidate is also expected to work on DRR- image processing and interpretation for disease phenomics. Further, skills for RGB and hyper-spectral image analysis for disease detection/assessment (neural network/deep learning) and digital disease scoring (computer vision/machine learning/Python) along with demonstrated ability of phenomics/transcriptomics-based biology database development is preferred.


The above position is completely on temporary basis and co-terminus with the project. The fellowship/emolument amount for the above position are as sanctioned in the project. The initial appointment will be for one year or till the tenability of the project whichever is earlier and the same can be curtailed/extended on the basis of assessment of the candidate's performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above post depending upon the qualification and experience of the candidate. Reservation of posts shall be as per Govt. of India norms. The appointment may be terminated any time by giving one month notice by either side. The applicants will have no claim implicit or explicit for consideration against any regular position of NIPGR.
