The National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS) is an autonomous institution of Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, with a mandate of basic research, teaching & training, and as a national repository for cell lines/hybridomas etc.

The centre is located in the midst of academically enriched environment of University of Pune Campus, Pune. NCCS calls for the walk-in interview for following post purely on temporary basis on its “Manav - Human Atlas Initiative" project.

Post : Manager - Scientific Data Quality Assurance and Validation

Total Monthly Emolument : Rs. 1,50,000-(Fixed)

Essential Qualification & Experience: 1st Class MTech/MD/MVSc/MPharm/MBiotech or Ph.D in Life Sciences / Biological Sciences with original work as evidenced by patents or publications.

Desirable : Evidence of leadership with about 10 years experience in R&D. The person should have excellent understanding of Science in general and Life sciences in particular and should preferably come with strong managerial experience. He/she should have desirable experience working in the area of Cell Biology/ Cancer Biology/ Immunology/ Bioinformatics/ Programmer / Biochemistry / Structural Biology/ Biophysics/ Genetics/ Epigenetics / Neurobiology / Data Modelling/ Systems Biology. Should have good experience in tools/ programmes like Perl, Python, R and Linux.

Job Profile :
• The individual along with PI, would represent the institution in meetings and negotiations, to finalise memorandum of agreements/understanding with schools, colleges, external vendors etc., and to ensure efficient team work.
• He/ She would work closely with the Senior domain experts and domain experts in ensuring the selection of right articles required for data annotation and meeting the rigorous standards of data quality and validity.
• The person will be involved while validating the annotation platform developed by technical and data management team right from the beginning and would also closely work with the Science communication and outreach team to, ensure the right selection of colleges and students.
• He /She would be responsible for setting up the standards for data quality, trouble shooting and ensuring the validity of the data generated.
• The person along with PI, will also be responsible for working towards active collaborations between organizations, college heads, academic institutions to facilitate the smooth operation and implementation of the outreach goals of this project.
• The person will contribute to developing a long-term strategy to make the MANAV platform sustainable.

Important Guidelines & Instructions

• The Director, NCCS reserves the right to enhance/reduce the number of posts and also cancel the recruitment process.
• Additional percentage and experience cut-off will be applied during the administrative screening process, if required.
• SC/ST/OBC candidates must produce proof of their caste certificate from appropriate authority. In addition, OBC candidates must also produce latest/valid non-creamy layer certificate in the prescribed form for claiming the reservation benefits.
• The prescribed educational qualifications and experience are the bare minimum and mere possession of same does not entitle candidates to attend the interview. The Centre reserves the right to interview only those candidates who in its opinion are likely to be suitable. Where number of applications received on the day of interview in response to this advertisement is large, it will not be convenient or possible to interview all the candidates. Based on the recommendations of administrative screening committee, the project investigator may restrict the number of candidates to be interviewed to a reasonable limit, after taking into consideration of qualifications and experience over and above the minimum prescribed in the advertisement. Therefore, it will be in the interest of the candidates, to mention all the qualifications and experience in the relevant field at the time of applying.
• No interim enquiries / correspondence / communication of any sort will be entertained on this matter.
• 5% Marks relaxation will be given to SC/ST/OBC candidates, if required.
• The above advertised position is filled up purely on temporary basis for the limited time period on the extramural project funded by DBT, Gov of India. The position will automatically co-terminus on the completion of the project tenure. The appointed person shall have no claim of appointment/absorption in funding agency or in NCCS, Pune.
• Age & Experience will be relaxed in exceptional cases by the Competent Authority upon satisfactory review of committee’s justification.
• Fellowship/Emoluments: Emoluments to the research personnel engaged under project will be made in accordance with the sanction order no. BT/PR27731/BID/7/828/2018 dated 27.02.2019 issued by funding agency.
• Age limit will be considered as on date of interview. Age relaxation of 5 years in case of SC/ST/PH candidates and 3 years in case of OBC candidates will be given as per Government of India rules. Reservation as per Govt, of India norms will be followed.
• No TA/DA will be admissible for attending the interview.
• Canvassing in any form and/or bringing in any influence will be treated as disqualification for the post.
• The posts advertised shall be need based without any commitment for its filling.
• Selected candidates will have to join duty immediately on receipt of the offer of appointment.
