Sardar Bhagwan Singh PG Institute of Bio-medical Sciences and Research came into existence in 1994 and is the flag bearer of education and research in the prime areas of biomedical sciences and technology. This Institute was the vision of late Sardar Gurcharan Singh ji, who foresaw the necessity of providing professional education in the era of late eighties- early nineties, when this was mainly confined to the southern states.

The appearance of infectious diseases in new places and new hosts, such as West Nile virus and Ebola, is a predictable result of climate change, scientists say. Humans can expect more such illnesses to emerge in the future, as climate change shifts habitats and brings wildlife, crops, livestock, and humans into contact with pathogens to which they are susceptible but to which they have never been exposed before, researchers said.
