Ayurveda is the oldest medicinal science known and ancient Indian people are well known for preservation and utilisation of plant based medicinal knowledge for curing many diseases or disorders. From there, in modern time many things are changed and even we forget potential of herbal medicines.
But, with companies like Patanjali, Baidyanath, Himalaya and others we can see huge opportunities are rising in this field. Ministry of AYUSH is working with full potential to exhibit roadmap for herbal sector which has huge demand not only in India but also in western countries. Also, India has strong base in traditional knowledge on herbal medicine and vast plant biodiversity has a great potential in this sector.
Same way, Nutraceutical or 'bioceutical' is a pharmaceutical alternative which claims physiological benefits. In the US, "nutraceuticals" are largely unregulated, as they exist in the same category as dietary supplements and food additives by the FDA.
