School of Medicine Established in 1930, Duke University School of Medicine is the youngest of the nationals top medical schools. The history of Jamia Hamdard begins with the establishment of a small Unani clinic in the year 1906 by Hakeem Hafiz Abdul Majeed, one of the well-known practitioners of Unani System of Medicine of his time. Hakeem Hafiz Abdul Majeed had a vision of making the practice of Unani Medicine into a scientific discipline so that Unani medicines could be dispensed in a more efficacious manner to patients.

UC San Diego Health Sciences is comprised of our School of Medicine, Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, The Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science, and our Student Health and Well-Being Department. We have long been at the forefront of translational - or bench-to-bedside - research, transforming patient care through discovery and innovation leading to new drugs and technologies.

Periyar University imparts higher education through three modes: Departments of Study and Research, the affiliated Colleges, and Periyar Institute of Distance Education (PRIDE). The University has 27 departments and 113 affiliated colleges. The University is named after the Great Social Reformer E.V. Ramasamy, affectionately called as Thanthai Periyar. Central Sericultural Research & Training Institute (CSRTI), Mysore, the pioneer research institution in the field of tropical sericulture, was established at Chennapattna in 1961 under the administrative control of Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India for the over all development of silk industry in the country. During the course of development the Institute was shifted to Mysore the princely city in the year 1963.

The Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy Department is established to look after the Medical Systems such as Siddha, Ayurveda,Unani, Yoga and Naturopathy and Homoeopathy.
