  • SAMSHA provides grants of 196 mn dollar for opioid use disorders

    The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), is accepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2018 Targeted Capacity Expansion:  Medication Assisted Treatment - Prescription Drug and Opioid Addiction (Short Title:  MAT-PDOA) grants.  The purpose of this program is to expand/enhance access to medication-assisted treatment (MAT) services for persons with an opioid use disorder (OUD) seeking or receiving MAT.  This program’s focus is on funding organizations and tribes/tribal organizations within states identified as having the highest rates of primary treatment admissions for heroin and opioids per capita and includes those states with the most dramatic increases for heroin and opioids, based on SAMHSA’s 2015 Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS).  The desired outcomes include:  1) an increase in the number of individuals with OUD receiving MAT 3) a decrease in illicit opioid drug use and prescription opioid misuse at six-month follow-up.

  • ICMR's Junior Research Fellowship - 150 fellowships

    The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi, the apex body in India for the formulation, coordination and promotion of biomedical research, is one of the oldest medical research bodies in the world. As early as in 1911, the Government of India set up the Indian Research Fund Association (IRFA) with the specific objective of sponsoring and coordinating medical research in the country. After independence, several important changes were made in the organisation and the activities of the IRFA. It was redesignated in 1949 as the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) with considerably expanded scope of functions.

    We are a large, multi-disciplinary department, which aims to tackle some of the world’s biggest health challenges by integrating innovative basic biology with cutting edge clinical research. We have internationally renowned programmes in a range of areas including cardiovascular sciences, diabetes and endocrinology, immunology, haematology and pathology.  Formed in 2012, we are a multi-disciplinary department with research interests that span the translational spectrum – from basic biology through to clinical application. Our ultimate aim is patient benefit, through improved understanding, diagnosis and treatment of disease. Led by Prof Hugh Watkins, FRS, we are one of the largest departments in the University, with over 700 staff and an annual turnover of approximately £59m.

    The Francis Crick Institute is a biomedical discovery institute dedicated to understanding the fundamental biology underlying health and disease. Its work is helping to understand why disease develops and to translate discoveries into new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, stroke, infections, and neurodegenerative diseases.

  • Industry Relevant R&D Scholarship by SERB

    One of the most notable developments in the S&T sector in the XI Plan has been the setting up of the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) through an Act of Parliament, viz. the Science and Engineering Research Board Act, 2008. Promoting basic research in Science and Engineering and to provide financial assistance to persons engaged in such research, academic institutions, research and development laboratories, industrial concerns and other agencies for such research and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto are the primary and distinctive mandate of the Board.  SERB aims to build up best management systems which would match the best global practices in the area of promotion and funding of basic research.

  • THSTI Invites application for Translational Research Award in INfectious diseases

    TRAIN is a post-doctoral research program initiated by THSTI to impart training in translational research to candidates with doctoral degree in biological sciences. Selected candidates will be involved in large infectious disease research programs/projects involving human cohorts/clinical trials and are expected to work at the interface of biology and clinical research. Candidates will be jointly mentored by biologists and clinical researchers during the course of their fellowship. The focus areas include epidemiology, immunology, pathogenesis, drug and vaccine development, and diagnostics for viral and bacterial diseases (Eg: Dengue, Hepatitis, Pneumonia, Tuberculosis etc.)

  • CSIR inviting nominations for Young Scientist Awards 2018

    The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) invites nominations for CSIR Young Scientist (YS) Awards for the year 2018. The awards are to be given for research contributions made primarily in India. The nominee should be a regular Scientist (as per CSRAP Rules) of CSIR system and should have joined the CSIR laboratory on or prior to 26th September 2017. The age of the nominee should not be more than 35 years as on 26th September 2017.
