Cosmetics Science Convergence 2024, a Conference on Building Multidisciplinary Networks to Drive Science & Technology in cosmetics was organized by JSS, division of Cosmetics science, School of life science, Mysuru, Karnataka, India from 2nd to 3rd December 2024.
The event was in collaboration with Productdev Edge Private Limited, Bengaluru and in association with Indian Society of Cosmetic Chemists, along with several cosmetic companies. The inaugural event was held on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 10:00 AM in the Sri Rajendra Auditorium at JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru. The chief guest, Mr. N Ravi Shankar, CEO of Aim High Consulting, a well-known investor, author, and mentor, inaugurated the event alongside the Guests of Honour, Mr. Anirudh Ranga, CEO of NESSO, NR Group, Mysuru, and Mr. Sudheer Shankar, Head of KDEM Mysuru Cluster. During the event, the launch of an AI-assisted product, led by Dr. Simi Sugathan and Dr. Asha Srinivasan, was unveiled by Mr. Anirudh Ranga.
Dr. H Basavanagowdappa, Vice Chancellor of JSS AHER, who presided over the event, emphasized the significance of skin as one of the largest organs and highlighted cosmetics as a rapidly growing field of interest to young minds. In his inaugural address, Mr. N. Ravi Shankar drew a parallel between the concept of "Satyam Shivam Sundaram" and the principles of health, wellness, and beauty while emphasizing on the scope of cosmetic science and integration of technology for entrepreneurial growth. Mr. Anirudh Ranga elaborated on the importance of innovations in the field of cosmetic science and growing technologies empowering cosmetic industry. Prof. Raveesha K.A., the Head of the School of Life Sciences, delivered the welcome address, followed by an introduction to the conference by Dr. Asha Srinivasan, the Organizing Secretary; Dr. Raghu Ram Achar proposed vote of thanks. The conference was set to feature a diverse range of engaging activities and speeches by prominent speakers from cosmetic industry and regulatory bodies. The event was supported by Kumar Organic Products Limited (Gold Sponsor), Gravity Chemicals and Orah Nutrichem (Bronze Sponsor) and ISCC.
Day1 witnessed presentation from Dr. Ramesh Surianarayan on Cosmetics, Cosmeceuticals & Consumers, Dr. Kaushik Chatterjee on 3D printing for Regeneration of Soft & Hard tissue ,Mrs. Dhivya Shanmugarajan on Eco friendly & cost effective Cosmetic Research, Ms. Pooja Venkatesh on Bioprinting of Human Epidermis. This session was chaired by Prof.Subbarao MVSST & Prof. Saravana Babu. In Afternoon session presentation were made by Dr. Rahul Chaudhary on The Neural code of Beauty: Exploring Neurocosmetics and skin-brain axis in Cosmetics Science, Ms. Nandita Sharma on Neuro-Derma Connections: The future of Skin health, Dr.Satobhisa Mukherjee on Fortifying the future: Dermocosmetics and the next frontier in skin barrier & Mr.Mukundan Satyanarayanan on Functional ingredients in skin care. This session was chaired by Mr. Vinay Kumar Singh & Mr. Benedict Mascarenhas. Young Start –up meet was moderated by Mr. Shivashankar with participants Mr. Vikram Singh, Barah Akkihebbal, Dilleep Rout, Rachna Rao, Mrs. Dhivya Shanmugarajan , Mr. Mithun & Mrs.Ahalya.
Day 2 began with presentation by Dr. Suman Majumdar on Empowering Conscious Green Beauty, followed by Ms. Mridula Kini on Beauty & Wellness 2030: Challenges & Opportunities, Mr. Benedict Mascarenhas on Sensory & Performance evaluation of Cosmetics. The session was chaired by Dr.Vikas Jain & Dr. Balmurlidhar Gowda. In the next session presentation were done by Dr. Osman Shahi on Reinventing Beauty with Science & Technology, Ms. Ruchita C on Generative AI in life science, Mr. Omprakash S. Sadhwani on Import& Export Regulation. This session was chaired by Dr. Simi Sugathan & Mr. Mukunda HS.
Last session of the day witnessed presentation by Mr. Vinay Kumar Singh on Koprosteine & Color Cosmetics and Dr. Dileep Rout on High internal Phase Emulsions.
Panel discussion was done by Ms.Nandita Sharma, Dr.Simi Sugathan, Mr.Vinay Kumar Singh,Dr. Suman Majumdar & Dr.Prabhakar which was moderated by Mr. Vivek Mishra.
