Sales productivity enhances as a result of technology adoption by salespeople

As per the recent study in South Africa, it is concluded that service delivery and sales productivity have been enhanced as a result of technology adoption by salespeople.

One of the most important determinants of successful technology adoption in the pharmaceutical industry is the degree to which technology systems are accepted by sales representatives. Many organisations invest in technology systems in order to cut costs, as well as to improve the quality of products or services, pointing out that technology is constantly developing at a rapid pace, which affects not only high tech industries but all other industries as well.

The study found that predominantly young people below the age of 35 years were employed as salespeople within the pharmaceutical industry of South Africa. The study found that a large percentage (just over 35%) of the respondents had been employed in the sector for a sufficient length of time to be able to have sound knowledge regarding technology adoption as well as sales performance.

It can be concluded that there is a positive relationship between technology adoption and the salespeople's performance within the pharmaceutical industry in South Africa. The study also found that the Pearson coefficient was above 0.820, implying that the relationship between technology adoption and salespersons performance is of strong significance. Based on the results, it can be concluded that service delivery and sales productivity have been enhanced as a result of technology adoption by salespeople.
