Assam based Association of Advanced Pharmacy Practitioners (AAPP) decides that they will not participate in the forthcoming World Pharmacist Day celebration programme on 25th September as a mark of resentment over the issue of not maintaining uniform standard of national eligibility in Pharmacy admission procedure.
BK Barman, president of AAPP said, "AAPP is always trying to develop the quality of Pharmacists through advanced Pharmaceutical knowledge, because the Pharmacy profession is directly related with the human life and animal life of this universe. So, we are always insisting on introducing the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) in all Pharmacy educational curriculum of Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). But unfortunately, the PCI is least bothered about this serious matter and tactfully avoids implementation of NEET in the admission procedure of all Pharmaceutical Educational curriculum."
He further said, "We want to convey our resentment against the non-initiation of any action by the Pharmacy Council of India to come under all New Pharmacy Admission under the ambit of National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) while admission to all professional degrees in Medical Field including admission into 1st Year B Sc. Nursing etc. are mandatory to come under the ambit of NEET. Without this no admission can be completed in above mentioned education regularization except in Pharmacy profession."
G Haloi, General secretary of AAPP said, "There is no doubt about the goodwill and efforts of the Federation of International Pharmaceuticals (FIP) to declare the 25th day of September as World Pharmacist Day. They should implement a uniform standard of Pharmacy Education to serve the Best Pharmaceutical Care to follow the WHO guidelines about Good Pharmacy Practice around the world."
AAPP also appeals to all Pharmacists of India to rethink the present modality endorsed by the Pharmacy Council of India, and earnestly appeal to PCI to uplift the pharmacy profession comes under the National eligibility qualifying test for a uniform global standard to fulfil the dream of Prime Minister of India to give the best, the Pharmacist have.
AAPP is hopeful that Pharmacy Council of India will take this issue very seriously to develop the quality, integrity, and standard of Pharmacy Practice in India.
