Government increases budget amount for scientific research and development

Special provisions have been made in the budget of 2021 to encourage science, technology, innovation and research in the country. This year, the budget of the Department of Science-Technology and Ministry of Earth Sciences has been increased by 30 percent. A total of Rs 16,695 crore has been provided to these two departments in the budget. Giving this information, Science and Technology, Earth Science and Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan has said that this increase in the budget will encourage research and development.

Dr. Harsh Vardhan informed that Rs 50,000 crore has been allocated to the National Research Foundation to promote research and development in the country. With this, the Deep Ocean Mission will be launched, which will have a budget of over Rs 4,000 crore. He informed that Umbrella structures will be established in nine cities for better coordination between research and development institutes.

22.88 percent has been increased in the budget of Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), 21.14 percent in DST budget, DBT 52.28 percent and 45.93 percent in the budget of Ministry of Earth Sciences. The policy on science and technology and the National Translation Mission for knowledge-based translation have also been announced in the budget. Apart from this, the announcement of starting public sector enterprises New Space India Limited and Hydrogen Energy Mission under the Department of Space has also been made in the budget this time.
