Govt. of Himachal Pradesh took up initiative in early seventies to set up a CSIR lab to make prudential use of the natural resources of the region. After several levels of discussions a formal request was made by then Chief Minister of HP to Vice President, CSIR in 1982 for initiating the matter, and giving final shape to the proposal. The dream of HP government finally came true in 1983 when the foundation stone of this National lab was laid as CSIR Complex Palampur by Prof. Nurul Hasan, former Vice President of CSIR, with then Chief Minister of HP chairing the function.
"Walk-in-Interview" is to be held on Monday the 23rd January, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at this Institute for engagement of Junior Research Fellow under the Department of Biotechnology sponsored projects entitled “Identification and charaterization of sequence based markers for genetic improvement of tea (GAP-0149)” on purely temporary basis (co-terminus with the projects) :

Positions: Two positions
Educational Qualifications: M.Sc. in Life Sciences/ Biotechnology / Molecular Biology with 55% marks.
Desirable: R&D experience in Quantitative Genetics/ Genetics/ Molecular Genetics & Genomics.
Age: 28 Years as on 23.1.2012.
Date & Time of Walk-in-Interview: Monday the 23rd January, 2012 at 10:00 A.M.
Venue: CSIR-IHBT, Palampur (H.P.).
Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST,3 years for OBC and widows, divorced women and women judicially separated from their husbands and who are not remarried are allowed age concession up to the age of 35 years. (Up to 40 years for members of SC/STs)-no other women entitled for such relaxation.
Eligible candidates may appear for "Walk-in-Interview" on the date, time and place mentioned above. Candidates appearing for "Walk-in-Interview" have to submit an application on the prescribed proforma available at the IHBT, website alongwith attested photocopies of testimonials at the time of interview. The positions are purely temporary and co-terminus with the projects. Candidates must also bring with them original certificates at the time of the appearing for interview failing which he/she will not be allowed to appear for interview. No TA will be paid for attending the interview.
Note: Result awaited candidates are not eligible for interview.
