The NIOH is the premier institute, under the aegis of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) under the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India. The need for research in Occupational Health in the country was first appreciated by Indian Research Fund Association (IRFA), the forerunner of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). IRFA set up an Industrial Health Advisory Committee (IHAC) under the chairmanship of Col. Bozman in 1945.
Post : Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
Academic Council of ICMR-NIOH, Ahmedabad will hold a Walk-in-Interview to select Junior Research Fellow who are interested with their own fellowship.

Essential Qualification and Experience : 1. 1st Class M.Sc. (Life Science / Biochemistry / Toxicology / Applied Food Science / Forensic Science / Biotechnology / Zoology); OR 1st Class M.Pharm (Pharmacology / Pharmaceutical Science) or MS Pharm (Pharmacology & Toxicology / Pharmaceutical Science) 2. CSIR-UGC NET / DBT / ICMR / SLET / Equivalent exam / Gujarat university entrance exam / Jadavpur university entrance exam qualified with own fellowship
Monthly Consolidated emoluments : Selected candidate will have to meet expenditure from external fellowship grant at their own
Age : Not exceeding 28 years
Tenure : As per requirement of project / fellowship of the candidate, whichever is later.
Candidates fulfilling the above eligibility criteria may report for walk-in-interview on the below mentioned date carrying an application in the prescribed format (attached as Annexure I) affixing recent passport size photograph along with Bio-data showing academic records, work experiences and attaching self-attested copies of both relevant degree certificates and complete mark sheets.
General Instructons to the Candidates :
1. Candidate should bring filled in application form with one set of self-attested photocopy of essential qualification and experience along with photograph as mentioned above.
2. Candidate should submit all certificates/testimonials/mark-sheets in original for verification. Candidate who fails to bring the Original Certificates will not be considered for walk-in-interview.
3. Age relaxation is admissible in respect of SC, ST, OBC and EWS candidate. Candidate who fails to bring the Original Certificates (for SC, ST, EWS, OBC with Govt. of India NCL) will not be considered for walk-in-interview.
4. The engagement may be extended after every specific period of the time subject to satisfactory performance and project requirement.
5. The incumbents selected will have no claim for regular appointments or continuation of his/her services in the same or any other project.
6. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the walk-in-interview.
7. The engagement can be terminated during the tenure at any time by giving one-month notice on either side. Your engagement can be terminated forthwith or before expiry of the notice period, by making payment of a sum equivalent to one-month project position remuneration. However, you will not be permitted to surrender one- month remuneration, in lieu of the period of notice of unexpired portion thereof and you will be required to serve the full period of notice. (Note — The mandate of one- month notice from either side, as stated herein, will not be applicable in case the project is decided to be closed by the competent authority within a period of less than 30days/one month.)
8. The engagement will be under the Administrative control of the ICMR-NIOH / Centre of ICMR-NIOH and will be subject to all the rules and regulations of the ICMR-NIOH / Centre of ICMR-NIOH as applicable to fixed term project positions/persons during the tenure/period of engagement.
9. As per project requirement the posting will be at office/field/sitework/travel etc. at the study site; however, may be temporarily posted to other study sites in the interest of project work.
10. There will not be entitlement to any other allowances such as Dearness Allowance, Transport Allowance, LTC, Bonus, etc. Also, incumbent shall not be provided any medicalfacility under CGHS / CS (MA) Rules as admissible to regular employees, and not entitled for any terminal benefits after completion of project period or otherwise.
11. No travelling and/or daily allowance will be admissible either for joining the assignment or on expiry of the contract. However, while travelling in connection with the assigned work during the period of engagement, you will be entitled to draw TA/DA in accordance with your Stipend / Emoluments, but it will not be at par with the regular / permanent employees of ICMR.
12. There will not have any claim on a regular post in ICMR-NIOH / Centre of ICMR-NIOH or in any Dept. of GOI. An undertaking to this effect before joining the project position.
13. Leave provision as per ICMR rules.
14. Any further information may be downloaded from ICMR-NIOH website, which will be updated from time to time.
15. Date of walk-in-interview may be changed due to administrative reasons; hence, candidates are advised to check website before appearing for walk-in-interview.
16. Director/Director-in-charge of the institute reserves the right for any decision regarding the interview; which cannot be challenged.
