The ICGEB is an international, nonprofit research organization. Established as a special project of UNIDO, it became fully autonomous in 1994 and now counts over 60 Member States. The International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology provides a scientific and educational environment of the highest standard and conducts innovative research in life sciences for the benefit of developing countries. It strengthens the research capability of its Members through training and funding programmes and advisory services and represents a comprehensive approach to promoting biotechnology internationally.

Post : Short-term Fellowship

A short-term Fellowship is available for 6 months starting tentatively May 2020 in the Laboratory of Molecular Virology of the ICGEB Trieste. The Fellowship is on the external Grant of Autonomous Region Friuli Venezia Giulia (Programme “INTERREG Italia-Slovenia” 2014-2020) for the Project “IMBI: Diagnosi di infezioni prostetiche in ortopedia con metodi innovative basati sull’uso di batteriofagi”.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated graduate student with the equivalent of a Master’s Degree (Laurea Magistrale) in Life Sciences, and with a strong interest in molecular virology. ready to start working immediately.

The candidate will be involved in assisting senior researchers in WP3.2 activities – development of methods to detect bacteriophages – by engineering both a colorcoded and a barcoded reporter system.
