This Institute was established in the year from 1963 in IMPCOPS, Chennai with a motive to study the phyto-chemical aspects of medicinal plants in an around the city. Later Central Council for Research in Indian Medicine and Homeopathy had taken over this Institute as grant in aid. In the year of 1979, this institute became a part of Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (formerly Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic and Siddha). This institute had diversified its activities to drug standardization besides phyto-chemical studies. This institute concentrates in formulating SOP and drug standardization of medicines belonging to Ayurveda and Siddha. This is the only institute which had been extended with license as Drug Testing Laboratory (DTL) for testing of Ayurveda and Siddha drugs by the Drug controller of Tamil Nadu (Indian System of Medicine).
The Posts are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. Selection process for SRF/JRF will comprise of a written test followed by interview of the candidates who qualify in the written test on the same day. There will be no Interview for MTS* (*through outsourcing agency). Fellowship of SRF will be Rs.42,000/- for JRF Rs.37,000/- + HRA 27 % and for MTS Rs. 16,000/- (fixed) per month respectively.
SRF (02 Posts) (Pharmacology)
Name of the project : “Cardio protective effect of Puskara Guggulu on experimentally induced myocardial infarction in rats” (And) “Acute and Chronic (180 days) repeated dose toxicity study of Nimbatiktam
Experience : 1.5 years
Essential Qualification : M.V.Sc/M.Pharm Specialization in Pharmacology
Desirable Qualifications : Experience in Immuno histochemistry / histopathology, animal studies with knowledge of publishing research articles in reputed indexed journals.
JRF (01 Post) (Microbiology)
Name of the project : “Isolation and Identification of Endophytic Microorganisms from the Stem Barks used in Ayurveda (Panchavalkala) and Evaluation of their Antimicrobial, antioxidant and antibiofilm activities.’
Experience : 2 years
Essential Qualification : Post graduation in Microbiology/Biotechnology
Desirable Qualifications : a) Relevant experience in Microbiology and Molecular biology
b) Experience in Endophytes-related research experience.
c) Experience in any research projects by AYUSH, ICMR,CSIR,DST or equivalent organization in Microbiology and Molecular biology.
JRF (Chemistry)
Name of the project : “Development of quality standards & SOP with markers-based analysis and shelf-life study of four medicinally important classical ayurvedic formulations’
Experience : 02 years
Essential Qualification : M.Sc in Chemistry' (or)
M.Pharm in Pharmaceutical Chemistry' from a recognized University/Institution.
Desirable Qualifications
a) Experience in handling instruments like HPLC, ,HPTLC
b) Research experience in projects related to AYUSH drugs
c) Skills of drafting and editing of scientific documents/articles/technical reports etc.
MTS (2 Posts) (Pharmacology)
Name of the project : “Acute and 180 days repeated dose oral toxicity study of AYUSH Balrakshak Lehyam”. & "Acute and Chronic (180 days) oral toxicity study of coded drug AYUSH-RP”
Experience : 1.5 year
Essential Qualification : 10+2 pass in science subject
Desirable Qualifications : Experience in animal handling
General Terms and Conditions
1. Age limit : Not more than 35 years for SRF/JRF/MTS as on the date of Interview. Age relaxation shall be applicable as per GOI rules
2. The above position is purely on temporary basis and co-terminus with the project.
3. There is no provision for re-employment after termination of project. The selected candidate will not have any right for claiming pay scale or absorption against any regular post being vacant on a later date at this Institute/Council.
4. No TA / DA will be paid for attending the interview. Candidates attending the Interview should bring the original educational qualifications, experience certificate and publications etc. at the time of Interview. Candidates already working should produce “No Objection Certificate” in case he/ she is employed elsewhere.
