Post : Junior Research Fellow (JRF) 01

Applications are invited from Indian nationals only for project position(s) as per the details given below for the consultancy/research project(s) under the Principal investigator (Dr. Prabhat K Mandal), Dept, of Biosciences and Bioengineering (BSBE) Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee.

Title of project : Understanding Retrotransposon machinery through the delineation of the LINE1-RNP complex composition in mice germ tissue
Sponsor of the project : Dept, of Biotechnology, India    .
Qualifications : M.Sc / M.Tech or equivalent degree with at least 60% marks in any branch of Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry and must have qualified NET / GATE or equivalent as per DBT norms. Experience in animal handling (mice), hands on experience in cell culture and molecular biology techniques are desirable.

Emoluments : RS: 31000/per month plus applicable HRA as per DBT norms
Duration : one year
Job description : Purification L1 retrotransposon complex from mice germ tissues and cancer cell lines using gel filtration or affinity chromatography and characterize the complex by biochemical and molecular biology based assay. The candidate may be considered for PhD enrolment, if found suitable as per Institute norms.


1. Candidates before appearing for the interview shall ensure that they are eligible for the position they intend to apply.

• Application in a plain paper with detailed CV including chronological discipline of degree/certificates obtained.
• Experience including research, industrial field and others.
• Attested copies of degree/certificate and experience certificate.
3. Candidate shall bring along with them the original degree(s)/certificate(s) and experience certificate(s) at the time of interview for verification.
4. Preference will be given to SC / ST candidates on equal qualifications and experience.
5. Please note that no TA / DA is admissible for attending the interview.

Note : The selected candidate may get an opportunity for PhD admission.
