Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) is an autonomous Institute of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt, of India. The institute is an integral part of the interdisciplinary NCR Biotech Science Cluster (NCR BSC) located at Faridabad, and is designed with the mission to conduct innovative translational research to translate concepts into products to improve human health.

This recruitment is to fill up the vacancies under the project entitled “Epidemic preparedness through rapid vaccine development: support of Indian vaccine development aligned with the global initiative of the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI)”

The IndCEPI Mission programme funded by the Department of Biotechnology will concentrate on diseases likely to pose an epidemic threat to India and on the health security of our own population in partnership with THSTI, Program Management Unit- BIRAC, MoHFW, ICMR, CDSCO, MoD and MEA. The IndCEPI mission will not only address the development of new vaccine candidates for outbreaks, but also bridge the academia- industry gap for routine vaccines and vaccines of the future. The main goal of the IndCEPI program will be to facilitate India’s R&D capabilities in EID (Emerging Infectious Disease) vaccines to capitalize on the position of the Indian vaccine industry as an emerging leader in the vaccine field and make substantial contributions to global public health. The specific objectives of the mission are:
• To strengthen and facilitate global competitiveness in the development of new vaccines both for epidemic diseases and new platform technologies, by building
and providing access to infrastructure to support the needs of the vaccine industry through an academia-industry interface
• To establish an internal coordinated inter-ministerial mechanism for vaccine development and testing to address known and unknown infectious disease threats.
• To build a public health preparedness system to respond to threats through strategic development of ethical and regulatory frameworks, surveillance and logistics for use of new vaccines, where appropriate.
• To strategically engage with CEPI through the IndCEPI Mission to develop vaccines to control epidemic outbreaks of infectious disease at an early stage to prevent spread, including engagement with LMICs.

Coordination Manager - 01 post
Max Monthly consolidated emoluments : Upto Rs. 2,40,000/-
Age Limit : 55 years
Minimum Qualifications & Experience : MD/PhD in Life Sciences from a recognized University with minimum 8 years of experience in the relevant field.
Domain/Job description : The Coordination Manager will be responsible for the overall administration of IndCEPI activities at THSTI. This will involve coordinating the construction and usage of shared infrastructure facilities at THSTI, leading regional networking and capacity building with LMICs and CEPI with support from the Program Management Unit (PMU), coordinate with PMU in oversight of the RFPs selected for funding etc.

Project Manager - 01 post
Max Monthly consolidated emoluments : Upto Rs. 1,41,000/-
Age Limit : 45 years
Minimum Qualifications & Experience : MD/PhD in Life Sciences from a recognized University with minimum 4 years of experience in the relevant field.
Domain/Job description : The Coordination Manager will be assisted by the project manager. The project manager will be responsible for organizing meetings, conferences and training opportunities to support LMIC capacity building, interacting with Developing country Manufacturers Network (DCVMNs) and strengthening Emerging infectious diseases (EID) preparedness.

Scientist D (Animal Care & Quality Control) - 01 post
Max Monthly consolidated emoluments : Upto Rs. 1,25,000/-
Age Limit : 45 years
Minimum Qualifications & Experience : MVSc / PhD in Veterinary Pathology from a recognized university with minimum 3 years of work experience in animal care, quality control and rodent pathology. The candidate must be registered with the state veterinary council or the veterinary council of India
Domain/Job description : The incumbent will be responsible for animal care inclusive of small animal breeding and maintenance, to perform the health and genetic monitoring/genotyping of small laboratory animals using routine microbiological and molecular biological techniques. He/she will be responsible for establishment and running of pathology laboratory with all necessary requisites. The incumbent should be familiar with national and international standards/ requirements applicable for the vivarium management.

Scientist D (Embryology & Transgenics) - 01 post
Max Monthly consolidated emoluments : Upto Rs. 1,25,000/-
Age Limit : 45 years
Minimum Qualifications & Experience : PhD in Life Sciences/ Veterinary Science/ Microbiology/ Biotechnology or relevant branch from a recognized University with 3 years of relevant research experience in rodent embryology, genome editing, embryo transfer technology and related molecular techniques.
Domain/Job description : The incumbent will be responsible for establishment and maintenance of rodent genome engineering laboratory. He/She will be responsible for establishment of all the protocol required for executing cryopreservation, rederivation of frozen sperms & embryos, pronuclear microinjection, gene editing of embryonic stem cells by using CRISPR-cas technology, injection of genetically modified embryonic stem cells inside the embryo (Morulla, Blastocysts), Embryo Transfer technology. The incumbent should be familiar with national and international standards/ requirements applicable for the specific pathogen free laboratory management.

Note 1 : Those willing to apply for the above scientific positions are required to identify their area of expertise from amongst the domain mentioned against each post and enclose a proposal of 1000 words explaining how they will be able to contribute to the domain for which the application is submitted.

General Terms & Conditions:
a) Appointment will be made on yearly contract basis for a period of five years with an initial probation period of six months that may be extended at the discretion of the competent authority.
