Opportunity in the ICMR funded Project at PGIMER

The PGIMER owes its inception to the vision of late Sardar Partap Singh Kairon, the then Chief Minister of Punjab and the distinguished medical educationists of the then combined state of Punjab, supported by the first Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru who considered the institutions of scientific knowledge as temples of learning and the places of pilgrimage.

Post : Project Research Scientist-II (Non-Medical) - 1 position

Applications are invited for the following post in the ICMR funded project entitled “Leveraging whole exome sequencing and circulating microRNA profiling to identify causal variants/correlates linked to type I diabetes and celiac disease" under Dr. Gaurav Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Translational and Regenerative Medicine, as per details given below

Essential Qualification : 1st Class Postgraduate degree in Bioinformatics / Human Genetics / Biochemistry / Biotechnology / Microbiology / Zoology / Life Sciences, with 3 years’ experience OR PhD in these subjects (As per ICMR norms).

Desirable : Experience of analyzing human exome and/or micro-RNA profiling NGS* data using various bioinformatics and computational biology tools. Candidates who qualified National Eligibility tests like CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (LS) or GATE or any other national exams conducted by central govt, department like ICMR/DST/DBT/ICAR/IIT/IISc etc. will be preferred. 
*Next Generation Sequencing

Upper Age limit : upto 40 year s (Relaxations, if any, as per ICMR norms)

Remuneration : Rs 80,400/month i.e. (Rs 67,000/- + Rs 13,400 (20% HRA)


The engagement in the project is purely on temporary basis and co-terminus with the project. Appointment will be initially for a period till 09-03-2026 and will be extended depending upon the satisfactory performance of the candidate. Total duration of appointment in the project could be for a maximum of up to 09-03-2028 based on projects progress. Howe\ er, appointment can be terminated by either side by giving one month’s notice or one month’s fellowship thereof.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview in Physical Mode in the Seminar Room of the above stated department (those will be confirmed separately by e-mail/phone). At the time of interview, candidates should bring their original documents/certificates for verification. No separate interview letter will be sent and no TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the interview.
