The Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) is an autonomous organization funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. CDFD also receives funding from other agencies on specific collaborative projects. In addition, DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics services provided by the Centre support some of its activities.
CDFD, an autonomous Institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, invites applications from Indian nationals for the following purely temporary positions in the DBT-Welcome Trust (UK) India alliance research project entitled “PEACOCC: Pan-India EArly-onset COlorectal Cancer Consortium” and other projects funded by Indian government agencies. The description of the positions, qualifications and nature of duties for each position is as follows.
Project Scientist III
Age Limit : 45 Years
Emoluments : Rs. 78,000 + 24 % HRA (with 5 % increment after 2 years)
Essential Qualifications : (i) Doctoral Degree in Science or Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized University or equivalent; And (ii) Seven years’ experience in Research and Development in an Industrial or Academic institution or Science and Technology Organization or Scientific activities and services
Desirable Qualifications : Experience in implementing large scale genomics projects, preferably related to cancer
Nature of Duty : The selected candidate will be responsible for overall coordination of the project; shall liaison with Pan-India clinical centres; will design and implement the NGS pipeline for exome and RNA sequencing data analysis in addition to supervising the CDFD staff involved in the project.
Project Scientist II
Age Limit : 40 Years
Emoluments : Rs. 67,000 + 24 % HRA (with 5 % increment after 2 years)
Essential Qualifications : (i) Doctoral Degree in Science or Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized University or equivalent; And (ii) Three years’ experience in Research and Development in an Industrial or Academic institution or Science and Technology Organization or Scientific activities and services
Desirable Qualifications : Experience in implementing large scale genomics projects, preferably related to cancer

Research Associate
Age Limit : 35 years
Emoluments : Rs. 58,000 + 24 % HRA
Essential Qualifications : PhD/MD/MS/MDS or equivalent degree or having 3 years’ experience of research, teaching and design and development experience after MSc/ME/M.Tech with at least one research paper in a Science Indexed (SCI) Journal
Desirable Qualifications : Experience in molecular biology techniques related to cancer biology and animal cell culture. Experience in working with laboratory animals will be a plus.
Nature of Duty : The selected candidate will manage and conduct the validation experiments on the mouse xenograft, organoid, and cancer cell line models.
Project Associate II
Age Limit : 35 years
Emoluments : (i) Rs. 35, 000/- + HRA to scholars who are selected through (a) National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including Lectureship or GATE or (b) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions. (ii) Rs. 28,000/- + HRA for others who have do not fall under the above category
Essential Qualifications : (i) Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences/MVSc or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent; And (ii) 2 years’ experience in Research and Development in an Industrial or Academic institution or Science and Technology Organizations or Scientific activities and servicesDD D Desirable Qualifications: Experience in molecular biology techniques related to cancer biology and animal cell culture for wet lab personnel. Experience in handling clinical specimen including blood and cancer tissues, as well as tissue processing will be a plus. OR Experience in computational analysis of NGS data.
Nature of Duty : The selected candidate will be expected to perform cell culture and molecular biology based experiments and/or work with laboratory animals and/or perform computational analysis of DNA and RNA NGS data.
Project Associate - I
Age Limit : 35 years
Emoluments : (i) Rs. 31, 000/- + HRA to scholars who are selected through (a) National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including Lectureship or GATE or (b) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions. (ii) Rs. 25,000/- + HRA for others who have do not fall under the above category Essential Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences/MVSc or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent;

Laboratory assistant / technician / project assistant / technical assistant / field assistant
Age Limit : 50 years
Emoluments : Rs. 20, 000/- + HRA; increment of 15% for 3 years of experience with maximum ceiling of 4 such revisions i.e. upto 12 years of experience
Essential Qualifications : B.Sc / 3 years diploma in engineering and technology
Desirable Qualifications : Experience in collecting and tabulating patient data, collecting and processing patient / clinical samples including blood, stool and cancer tissues / interaction with patients and patient attendants to collect information. molecular biology techniques related to cancer biology and animal cell culture for wet lab personnel.
Nature of Duty : The selected candidate will be involved in collection of tumor and other samples from the local cancer hospital, pre-processing, immunohistochemistry, and tabulation of clinical information.
General Terms and Conditions
1. The vacancies against the position shall be filled based on the vacancies available at the time of selection. If more vacancies with identical job requirements become available within one year after the selection, these can also be filled from among the candidates who are empanelled for the above position.
2. Depending on the qualifications, experience and recommendations of the Selection Committee, the selected candidates may be placed in a scale and designation lower than the grade advertised/applied against. Emoluments of the candidates selected against the position may vary depending upon the qualifications, experience, recommendations of the Selection Committee or emoluments sanctioned by the funding agency in the project.
3. Candidates selected against the position will be expected to carry out research in the areas of Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Computational and Structural Biology, Genetics, Immunology, Microbiology or Molecular Biology.
4. Selection against the position will not make the candidates with Master’s Degree, eligible to register for a Ph.D. degree.
5. This position is purely temporary and are initially for a period of six months or one year. This position could be extended/terminated depending on the continuation of the project(s).
6. Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped/Ex-service person/EWS applicants will be as per Govt. of India rules.
7. Relaxation of age for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped/Ex-service person/Female applicants will be as per Govt. of India rules.
8. Mere fulfilling the minimum qualifications will not entitle the candidate for being called for interview. The applications will be screened by a committee based on research experience and requirement of each project. Only those candidates who are found suitable will be shortlisted to be interviewed through Video Conference. The decision of the Director, CDFD will be final in this respect and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
9. Any of the selected individuals may from time to time be assigned to perform any other duties commensurate with their qualifications, by the Director, CDFD.
