Life Sciences Recruitment at National Health Systems Resource Centre

National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC) has been set up under the National Health Mission (NHM) as an autonomous registered society, to provide technical assistance and capacity- building support to the states for strengthening the public health system. The NHSRC is also mandated to contribute towards National strategic health planning and programme design.

Post : Assistant Director, Enterovirus Division

National Health Systems Resource Centre, New Delhi on behalf of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare is seeking applications from qualified candidates for the above mentioned post purely on contractual basis.

Roles and Responsibilities
1. Supervision of arrangements for collection of sewage samples from seven sites in Delhi 
2. Supervision of concentration of sewage specimens as per the SOP and biosafety requirements 
3. Supervision of Cell Culture and ensuring availability of cell lines for virus isolation required for surrogate markers for environmental surveillance 
4. Supervision of sterility check and measures to prevent contamination 
5. Analysis of qRT-PCR run files and checking of work registers 
6. Supervision of inventory records for kits, consumables and isolates 
7. Supervision of equipment calibration from time to time 
8. Supervision of equipment inventory and equipment records and their calibration 
9. Perform RT-PCR when required 
10. Supervision of kit evaluation and quality control records of tests 


11. Supervision of RNA extraction of concentrated sewage samples their storage 
12. Preparation of consumable requirements from time to time 
13. Ensuring implementation and maintenance of quality management system with technical staff 
14. Ensuring availability of consumables for non-interrupted delivery of laboratory services by informing the OIC from time to time 
15. Collating and analyzing data periodically 
16. Risk assessment and mitigation for different test procedures in the laboratory 
17. Ensuring proper bio-security related practices in the laboratory 
18. Necessary preparation of the samples for sequencing
19. Analysis of the sequencing results and maintenance of related records 
20. Documentation and compilation of results and records of sequencing.

Essential qualification
i) Master’s degree (MSc/MVSc./MD) in Biotechnology / Molecular biology / Microbial genetics / Organic chemistry / Microbiology OR Zoology with Cell biology or Human genetics as special subject OR 
ii) Life sciences with specialization in Molecular biology / Microbial genetics / Cell biology or Genetics from a recognized University. 
Desirable : 
i) Candidates holding PhD degree 
ii) Sound knowledge of computer applications in analysis of molecular data


Experience (Years) : At least 7 years’ experience after Master’s degree OR 3-year experience after MD degree OR one-year experience after PhD degree in the field of molecular biologyrelated to human/ animal health, genomics and/or proteomics research, molecular diagnostics, molecular epidemiology and applied innovations in various aspects of infectious disease or other similar areas as evident from publications in journals of high international repute 

Age limit: - Not more than 40 years 
Remuneration Range : Rs. 67,700/- (No other allowance permissible) (Consolidated remuneration per month)
