The facility is affiliated with National Institute of Plant Genome Research, New Delhi (NIPGR) and serve to facilitate genotyping services with private service providers and then advanced these, in a focused way, to meet the goal of food and nutritional security through genomics led breeding. The fundamental principle is relatively simple create and charter an entity with express purpose of serving crop or plant varietal genotyping and characterization in India. It will also help to overcome legal hurdles in Material Transfer, IPR protection, etc.
Post : Junior Research Fellow (JRF) / Project Associate-I (PA-I)
Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the purely temporary positions of one Junior Research Fellow (JRF) / Project Associate-I (PA-I) in the scheme of “Short-Term Research Fellowship”, NIPGR under the supervision of Dr. Prabhakaran Sundararajan, Scientist, NIPGR. Emoluments will be at par with similar fellowships by DBT/DST and NIPGR fellowship norms.
Upper age limit : 35 years (for PA-I).
Eligibility : Candidates having Master’s degree in Biotechnology / Molecular Biology / Bioinformatics / Computational Biology / Plant Breeding / Life Sciences or related fields with at least 55% (or equivalent) marks in master degree can apply. Candidates who qualify as per the criteria mentioned in the DST Office Memorandum No. SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated January 30, 2019 and SR/S)/Z-05/2019 dated July 10, 2020 are eligible to apply.
Further, candidates should have experience in the following areas :
1. Genome-wide identification studies
2. Bioinformatics analysis and Linux platform
3. Basic molecular biology techniques
Preference will be given to candidates with previous work experience in gene-family identification and characterization with proven track record of publications.
The position is purely temporary and is co-terminus with the scheme. The initial appointment will be for one year, which can be extended/curtailed on the basis of assessment of the candidate's performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidates against the above posts depending upon the qualifications and experience of the candidates. Reservation of post shall be as per Government of India norms. The appointment may be terminated at any time by giving one month notice by either side. The applicants will have no claim implicit or explicit for consideration against any regular position of NIPGR.
