Shri B P Sharma, Secretary Health, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and Chairman, Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, Government of India launched an Android Mobile Applications for Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) reporting facility to the stakeholders of Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI). The mobile application for ADR reporting was specifically designed to facilitate the needs of the IPC, to ensure hassle free ADR reporting for the stakeholders. The mobile application is expected to provide a platform for the private healthcare professionals to report ADRs to safeguard and enhance public health by ensuring the safety, efficacy and quality of drugs.

An experimental drug from the US-based Eli Lilly and Company discovered to protect Alzheimer's-inflicted mice from memory deterioration, despite a high-glycemic-index (GI) diet meant to boost blood sugar levels. The experimental drug mimics the hunger-signaling hormone ghrelin.

Upto 3% of the global population suffering from Ankylosing spondylitis and two other debilitating conditions. Ankylosing spondylitis, a painful form of arthritis is an incurable immune disease affecting the spine, joints and tendons, and can be difficult to diagnose.

A new research suggests that a simple blood or urine test could soon identify men with an elevated, genetically-inherited risk for the disease. The study is available online and will be published in an upcoming issue of the journal Cancer Discovery.

The Andhra Pradesh government has launched a new software application ‘e-Aushadini’ to manage stocks of various drugs in government hospitals. The main aim of 'e-Aushadini' is to ascertain the needs of various district drug warehouses such that all the required materials/drugs are constantly available to be supplied to the user district drug warehouses without delay.
