The University of Hyderabad (UoH), one of the major institutions of higher education in India is largely devoted to postgraduate studies and is widely known for its excellence in research and for its distinguished faculty. Founded in 1974 with Prof. Gurbaksh Singh as its first Vice Chancellor, UoH - also known as Hyderabad Central University or HCU- has emerged as a leading centre of teaching and research. The large campus located near Gachibowli, which is the IT hub of Hyderabad, has immense bio-diversity and is home to over 75 varieties of bird, not to speak of the lakes and rock formations which give the campus a natural beauty.

Post : Research Assistant

Application are invited from eligible candidates for Research Assistant position in DST funded project entitled “Unraveling the potential role of Inhibitor of Apoptotic Proteins (IAP) in innate and adaptive immunity against Chlamydia pneumoniae pulmonary infection model system” for the period of one year with possibility of extension until the end of project until March, 2018. The position is purely temporary in nature. The selected candidate will get chance to extend the study toward Ph.D.

We are unraveling the role of various inhibitors of apoptosis proteins in both innate and adaptive immune response of macrophages and T cell respectively. In project we are using several immunological and molecular approaches (siRNA Knockdown method e.g. ) in the infected macrophages and epithelium and their co culture model system. We would employ non-invasive in tracheal infection method in animal model system in our recently established BSL2/3 lab setup For the detailed information about the project kindly refer to (Prakash et al, 2009 PloS ONE, Prakash et al, 2010 JBC).
