Retired Armed Forces personnel till 2002 could avail medical facilities only for specific high cost surgery/treatment for a limited number of diseases covered under the Army Group Insurance(Medical Branch Scheme) (AGI(MBS)) and Armed Forces Group Insurance Scheme(Management Information System) (AFGIS (MIS)) schemes. These medicare schemes could provide some relief to the ESM, but it was not a comprehensive scheme as compared to and available for other Central Government Employees. Therefore, the requirement was felt of establishing a medicare system which could provide quality medicare to the retirees of the Armed Forces.

National Rural Health Mission is being implemented in the state constituting State Health Mission District Health Missions, State Health Society and District Health Societies. Kerala State Health and Family Welfare Society, named as “AROGYAKERALAM “ at the State level and District Health and Family Welfare Societies, named as “AROGYAKERALAM (indicate name of district)” ” in all the District Headquarters are registered societies under the Travancore Cochin Literary Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act 1955.

The KPSC is a body created by the Constitution of India. The Commission advise the Government on all matters relating to civil services referred to it under Article 320 (3) of the Constitution and publish notifications inviting applications for selection to various posts as per the requisitions of the appointing authorities, conduct written test and/or practical tests, physical efficiency test and interview, prepare ranked list based on the performance of the candidates and advise candidates for appointment strictly based on their merit and observing the rules of reservation as and when vacancies are reported.
