We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant to work as part of the Respiratory team investigating microbiological and immunological responses of healthy adults inoculated with live pneumococcus. The successful candidate will provide assistance to research scientists working on this project. Areas of responsibility will include contributing to the development and delivery of laboratory based research activities and assist with the production and dissemination of research outputs. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi, the apex body in India for the formulation, coordination and promotion of biomedical research, is one of the oldest medical research bodies in the world. As early as in 1911, the Government of India set up the Indian Research Fund Association (IRFA) with the specific objective of sponsoring and coordinating medical research in the country. After independence, several important changes were made in the organisation and the activities of the IRFA. It was redesignated in 1949 as the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) with considerably expanded scope of functions.

The Newton International Fellowships Scheme was established in 2008 to select the very best early stage  postdoctoral researchers from all over the world and enable them to work at UK research institutions for a period of two years. The Newton International Fellowships programme is available to eligible applicants from any country outside the UK.

The Davison laboratory has recently made significant progress towards identifying the molecule that determines the left and right axis of asymmetry. The purpose of this role will be to have specific responsibility for research, for developing research objectives and proposals for a research project relating to key experiments and manipulations of snail embryos that are necessary prior to publication of the work.
