  • 5th National Seminar on BIOINFORMATICS, 2014 in SVIMS Bioinformatics Centre

    We extend our cordial invitation to attend DBT sponsored 5th National seminar on BIOINFORMATICS to be organized by SVIMS Bioinformatics Centre, SVIMS University, Tirupati from 14-15th February 2014. The main objective of the National conference is to bring together scientists, researchers, students from academia and corporate companies to share their informatics research experiences in the field of molecular modeling and drug design. Moreover, the participants will get opportunities to enlighten their bioinformatics skills to implement in their respective research field. Researchers will also be encouraged to present their research works.

    Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (University for Women) was founded in the year 1983 by Sri N.T.Rama Rao, the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, with the fervent desire to train women students as better builders of the Nation and to inculcate skills of leadership in all aspects of life.The University was established under the Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam Act of 1983, which has come into force on the 14 of April 1983. It was started with ten faculties and 300 students and twenty staff members. Today the University has a student population of 2700 and an academic staff 250. This year the University is going to have 59 courses at the post-graduate and undergraduate level and a good component of research.

    ABSTRACT:
    Boswellia ovalifoliolata bal&henry is an endemic plant that has been suggested as useful in the treatment of various diseases (anti diabetic, anti inflammatory, antimicrobial , antifungal, antibacterial).In the present study, anti ulcer activity of MELBO was studied by pylorus ligated,aspirin induced gastric ulceration in albino rats. Anti ulcer activity was evaluated by pylorus ligation, aspirin induced ulcer method by using standard ranitidine (27mg/kg).The anti ulcer activity was assessed by determining the ulcer index, pH and acidity. MELBO (400mg/kg) produced a significant reduction in the ulcer index, PH and acidity when compared with ulcer control group and standard group. MELBO reduces ulcer, there by the present study indicates that boswellia ovalifoliolata bal&henry showed protective activity on gastric ulcer.

  • Formulation and evaluation of herbal ointment for wound healing and anti marking activity by using Vitis venifera and Annona reticulata seeds extracts

    Abstract:
    The main aim of the present study was to evaluate the two activities that are anti marking and wound healing activities by Ethanolic extracts of Annona reticulata and Vitis venifera with combination of honey , ghee and neem oil. The both Annona reticulata (custard apple) and Vitis venifera (grapes) are well known plants in Indian traditional medicine. According to the literature reference and Indian traditional use, both Vitus andAnnona were selected for evaluation of wound healing potentiality and anti marking capability. Phyto chemical studies revealed Ethanolic extract of Annona seeds have alkaloids, phytosterol, fixed oil, fats, phenolic compounds, tannins, proteins, amino acids and flavonoids. The studies revealed in case of grape seed extract which is having Linoleic acid, Oleic acid and Palmitic acid. Ethanolic extract of seeds of Annona reticulata and grape seed extract with other ingredients were examined for the activity in the form of ointment in wound models on rat. These formulations for test showed adequate response as compared to standard drug in terms of healing time, marks and tensile growth.
