Pharmacists opposes Compounder word used by Mankind Pharma in a poster

Association of advanced pharmacy practitioners (AAPP) shows strong oppose  against Mankind Pharmaceuticals for using compounder term and notify them to use term as Pharmacist. AAPP has sent a notice to Mankind Pharma to withdraw the term Compounder from the poster circulated by them and to recirculate it by using the appropriate term as Pharmacist.

AAPP said in a notification that, we congratulate Mankind Pharma for taking initiative to companionate the families of front line COVID warriors but at the same time we also express our resentment to your act of negligence to defame the professional integrity of more than Ten Lakh Pharmacy professionals by calling them as “Compounder”, which is an obsolete or suspended term by the Govt. of India in the year 1955.

They further said that, it is needless to say that any pharmaceutical company and retail pharmacy cannot function without presence of Pharmacist as per Drug & Cosmetic act 1940 & rule 1945. So, we do believe that your company (i.e. Mankind) is not an exception of the D & C act 1940 Rules 1945 and the Pharmacy Act 1948, etc.

In the past, Hon’ble Sr. Cabinet Minister Govt. of India, Mr Nitin Gadkari (Min. of R & T) and the Hon’ble Prime Minister of England, Mr Boris Jhonson have already acknowledged the services of Pharmacists during this global pandemic situation.

AAPP demands Mankind Pharma to correct the poster and recirculate it in print and electronic media within seven days of the receipt of this letter-cum-notice.
