Association of Advanced Pharmacy Practitioners (AAPP) have certain objections against the Education Regulation 2020 for Diploma Course in Pharmacy (D.Pharm). And AAPP have reported this issue to Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

AAPP said that after completing this two years Diploma syllabus almost no Pharmacist can clear the concept of ADME, Pharmaco-dynamics, Pharmaco-kinetics, ADR, Drug manufacturing process, drug-drug interaction, drug-food interaction, post marketing surveillance etc. which are required to deliver to a patient as per protocol of Good Pharmacy Practice of Federation of International Pharmaceuticals (FIP) and World Health Organization (WHO).

They said that  D.Pharm is half taught course and it will provide only a half access of Pharmaceutical knowledge to the esteemed citizens of India.

AAPP expressed concern that government of Delhi and Punjab have already prescribed minimum education qualification  to get government job as B.Pharm (Bachelor of Pharmacy) for pharmacist and the central government also supports the same vide their recruitment rule. The same Diploma Pharmacist who are not eligible to apply for a government job then in which logic are they eligible to open a drug store (pharmacy) within the same territory of India.

They also requested to deputy secretry of health ministry  to intervene the decision of the Pharmacy Council of India to withdraw this regulation to ensure a Pharmacy graduate degree (BPharm) as minimum qualification to become a registered Pharmacist in India.

President of AAPP Mr. BK Barman said in a notice that if Nursing Council of India has announced that there will be no single admission into Diploma in General Nursing cum Midwife from the year 2021, then why not in D.Pharm?
