Job Description:
a) Demonstrated ability to conduct or contribute to interdisciplinary research projects and a record of collaborative interactions with scientists in diverse fields and the expectation of collaborating with investigators in the home department and School of Pharmacy.
b) Interest in participating in multi-investigator research activities and expertise in biobehavioral testing, systems neuroscience and neuropharmacology with a focus on brain aging.
c) Experience in one or more of the following laboratory assays for learning, congnition, locomotor activity, sterotypy, gait disturbance, anxiety, reward efficacy, or social interactions in the context of neurological diseases or psychiatric disorders including, but not limited to Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, spinocerebellar ataxias, multiple schlerosis, peripheral neuropathy, stroke, traumatic brain injury, developmental disabilities (such as autism spectrum disorders or ADHD), psychosis, manic epressive illness, or major depressive disorder.
d) Excellent oral communication skills.
Desired Profile:
a) Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent degree in an appropriate discipline, such as Pharmacology or Toxicology, Neuroscience, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology or Molecular Biology.
b) Research experience; 2 years (minimum) post-doctoral experience in one of the following areas; neuropharmacology, neurotoxicology, biobehavioral pharmacology, or cell and molecular neurobiology.
c) Candidates should demonstrate outstanding potential for obtaining external funding for their research proposals with translational impact.
d) Demonstrated success in publishing research findings in nationally and internationally recognized journals.
e) General expertise or comparable experience that supports an interest in, and an ability to teach, broad aspects of general pharmacology and toxicology in the context of a professional Pharm. D. program.
f) Excellent written communication skills as evidenced by the application materials.
