Considered the founder of the biotechnology industry, Genentech has been delivering on the promise of biotechnology for more than 30 years, using human genetic information to discover, develop, manufacture and commercialize medicines to treat patients with serious or life-threatening medical conditions. Today, Genentech is among the world's leading biotech companies, with multiple products on the market and a promising development pipeline.
In March 2009, Genentech became a member of the Roche Group. As part of their merger agreement, Roche and Genentech combined their pharmaceutical operations in the United States. Genentech's South San Francisco campus now serves as the headquarters for Roche pharmaceutical operations in the United States. Genentech Research and Early Development operates as an independent center within Roche.
Post: Senior Scientist - In Vivo Pharmacology
Job Description:
* Lead and manage implementation of in vivo pharmacology models for cancer targets of interest, using translational and pharmacodynamic approaches to select lead drug candidates.
* Identify and validate biomarkers in a preclinical setting and determine relationship to target modulation ad potential for clinical translation.
* Identify potential mechanisms of resistance to targeted therapies using both in vitro and in vivo methodologies.
* Elucidate optimal combination strategies based on the biology of a given target mechanism.
* Work closely with biochemical pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, DMPK, molecular diagnostics, clinical, and regulatory functions to advance compounds through clinical development.
* Work closely with colleagues in molecular diagnostics and cancer cell signaling to incorporate cellular and molecular features that may predict response when designing single agent and combination studies.
* Collaborate with colleagues in DMPK to help predict human exposure through PK/PD modeling.
* Responsible for design, execution, and defense of scientific experiments within a program.
* Must contribute to IND filings, patents, and manuscripts.
Desired Profile:
* Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in biology plus post-doctoral experience with 3-8 years of relevant experience in a research, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical lab.
* In depth understanding of the signaling pathways that lead to cancer and an ability to translate data from in vitro assays to preclinical models.
* Strong understanding of experimental design
* Experience with in vivo cancer models relating to drug target validation, compound testing, or preclinical development.
* Strong publication record with a proven track record of achievement.
