THSTI Hiring Research Scientist, Quality Manager, Technical Support

BRIC-Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) is an Institute of the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. The institute is an integral part of the interdisciplinary NCR Biotech Science Cluster located at Faridabad, and is designed as a dynamic, interactive organization with the mission to conduct innovative translational research and to develop research collaborations across disciplines and professions to translate concepts into products to improve human health.

This recruitment is to fill up the vacancies of BRIC-THSTI under the following projects

Senior Research Scientist (One post)
Project : Equity and financial household impact in randomized controlled trials, implementation research and cohort studies in India (EQUIFINANCE) 
PI : Dr. Nitya Wadhwa
Monthly consolidated emoluments : Rs. 1,25,000/- 
Age Limit : 45 years
Qualifications & Experience : MD/ MDS/ PhD or equivalent degree in health-related discipline from a recognized university with at least three (3) years of post-qualification experience in clinical research/ health economics.  
Essential : • Prior experience in working in a similar role within a renowned research/academic setting. 
• Demonstrate ability to understand, explain and communicate and manage project conduct using standard tools. 
Desirable : • Effective verbal and written communication skills. 
• Basic knowledge of public health, epidemiology, and biostatistics along with statistical software like R/Stata. 
• Familiarity with collecting and managing large datasets, including healthcare expenditure, clinical trial data, or survey data. 
• Effective time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities. 
• Good organizational behavior and problem-solving skills. 
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with collaborators, co-workers, research officers, investigators.

Job description :
The selected candidate will be responsible for- 
• Design, conduct, and analyze cost-effectiveness, cost-utility, and cost-benefit studies of health interventions, programs, and policies. 
• Build and validate health economic models, to assess the impact of health interventions. 
• Evaluate and develop equity and financial analysis methods for randomised controlled trials, implementation research and cohort studies. • Implementation of project activities including development of study tools, project coordination and presentation of work at project meetings. 
• Development of research articles for publication. 
• Coordination between investigators, project conduct team, data management team and monitoring team; liaising with the funding agency; tracking progress of project with updates; monitoring deliverables; and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements. 
• Developing training module and planning the initial and retraining sessions for the research study staff. 
• Participation and coordination of scientific workshops, seminar and journal clubs The position will be based at the coordinating centre at THSTI but will have to make site visits.

Assistant Quality Manager (One post)
Project : Equity and financial household impact in randomized controlled trials, implementation research and cohort studies in India (EQUIFINANCE)

Monthly consolidated emoluments : Rs. 40,000/- 
Age Limit : 30 years
Qualifications & Experience : Post-Graduation degree in Clinical Research / Public Health from a recognized university. 
Desirable : • Experience in clinical research. 
• Basic knowledge of GCP / applicable regulatory and national guidelines. 
• Basic knowledge of R/Stata. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills including good command of English required.

Job description :
The Assistant Quality Manager will be responsible for monitoring data collection at the study site. He/she will be responsible for : 
• Development of the quality management plan in consultation with the Clinical Researcher and the PI. 
• Ensure the core scientific principles of the study are adhered to, including accurate data collection, participant adherence to protocols, and minimizing missing data and loss to follow-up. 
• Regularly compare recorded data with original sources (e.g., clinical records, forms, or databases) to verify accuracy and completeness. 
• Investigate and resolve any data discrepancies, errors, or inconsistencies found during data entry or monitoring processes. 
• Liaise with the Data Management (DM) team to ensure query generation and resolution processes are conducted within prescribed timelines. 
• Reviewing informed consent forms and process.
• Provide regular updates and detailed reports of data analysis, including data trends, protocol deviations, and study outcomes. 
Skills : • Operational skills including focus and commitment to quality management and problem solving. 
• Effective communication skills, the provision of timely and accurate information.

Junior Research Scientist (One post)
Project : Pre-clinical animal model platform to study disease severity and post COVID-19 sequelae 
PI : Dr. Amit Awasthi
Monthly consolidated emoluments : Rs. 85,000/- 
Age Limit : 40 years
Qualifications & Experience : Ph.D. in any area of Life Sciences from a recognized university. 
Desirable : • Experience of working in BSL3 and ABSL3 procedures. 
• Expertise in immunological techniques and T cell assays. 
• Publication in immunology.
Job description :
• Knowledge of Animal handling and experimentation. 
• Should be able to plan, design and conduct experiments using immunological assays. 
• Knowledge of handling mice and isolating various immune cells using FACS etc.

Project Technical Support-II (One post)
Project : Evaluation of novel dipstick-based molecular techniques for early detection of Gram-negative ESKAPE (KAPE) organisms and antimicrobial resistance genes in burn wounds 
Co-PI : Dr. Bhabatosh Das
Monthly consolidated emoluments : Rs. 20,000/- plus HRA
Age Limit : 30 years
Qualifications & Experience : B.Sc. degree in Life Sciences from a recognized University with two (2) years of post-qualification experience in a research lab.
Job description : Experience in the area of microbial culturing, genomic DNA extraction, and PCR.

Project Technical Support-II (One post)
Project : Development of an investigational combo pneumo vaccine (Industry collaboration) 
PI : Dr. Sweety Samal
Monthly consolidated emoluments : Rs. 50,000/-
Age Limit : 30 years
Qualifications & Experience : Graduation degree in any discipline or equivalent from the recognized university with atleast five (5) years of post-qualification experience of working in a Central Government / State Government / Autonomous organization
Job description : • Administrative works including communication with different institutes, funding agency, project staff. 
• Organize regular meetings; make record notes, minutes of the meeting etc. 
• Should be comfortable with managing digital tools eg. Virtual meeting platforms, PowerPoint presentations, MS Excel, monitoring dashboards, etc. 
• Note drafting, budgeting, responses to the financial queries and preparation of administrative documents. 
• Excellent time management skills and ability to work under short timelines. 
• Ability to learn quickly and efficiently. Noting, Drafting and other secretarial work.

General Terms & Conditions
a) These are the short-term positions and extension will be granted subject to satisfactory performance of the incumbents and tenure of the project for which they are selected. Those appointed to these positions will not have any claim for regularization of their employment. 
b) All educational, professional and technical qualification should be from a recognized Board/University. 
c) The experience requirement specified above shall be the experience acquired after obtaining the minimum educational qualifications specified for the post. The candidates are required to satisfy themselves, before applying /appearing for the selection process, that they possess the minimum eligibility criteria as laid down in the recruitment advertisement. No query will be entertained with regard to eligibility criteria. 
d) Closing date of online application will be the CRUCIAL DATE for determining eligibility with regard to age, essential qualification etc. 
e) Age and other relaxations for direct recruits and departmental candidates: 1. By five years for candidates belonging to SC/ST communities. 2. By three years for candidates belonging to OBC communities. 3. For Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) falling under the following categories : (i) UR - ten years, ii) OBC - 13 years (iii) SC/ST - 15 4. Age is relaxable for Central Government servants up to five years in accordance with the instructions or orders issued by the Central Government, from time-to-time. 5. Institute employees will get the age relaxation to the extent of the service rendered by them as on closing date of advertisement. 6. For Ex-servicemen upto the extent of service rendered in defence forces (Army, Navy & Air force) plus 3 years provided they have put in a minimum of 6 months attested service.

g) All communications will only be made through email. h) In case a large number of applications are received, screening will be done to limit the number of candidates to those possessing higher/relevant qualification and experience. 
i) The no. of vacancy indicated above may change subjected to the actual requirement at the time of Written test/skill test/interview. 
j) With regard to any provisions not covered in this notification, the bye laws of THSTI / Govt. of India rules / guidelines shall prevail.
