The National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS) took birth as National Tissue Culture Facility in March 11, 1986 with a mandate of basic research, teaching & training, and as a national repository for cell lines/hybridomas etc. The centre is located in the midst of academically enriched environment of University of Pune campus, Pune.
NCCS invites applications from Indian nationals for the following positions possessing excellent academic records and relevant work experience
1. Scientist 'D’ :

Pay Band No. 3 of Rs. 15600-39100 with grade pay of Rs. 7600/-. (TME Rs. 82425/-)
Age limit : Below 50 years,
Qualification & Experience :
1st Class MTech / MD / MVSc / MPharm / MBiotech or PhD / Corresponding degrees in other disciplines with original work as evidenced by patents or publications. Evidence of leadership with about 8 years experience in R&D.
Desirable : The candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in handling and administration of scientific projects in the R&D Institute.
Description of Duties : The person will be responsible for leading and running the extramural project management cell of the institute. He/she will be responsible for monitoring of all outgoing and incoming scientific projects from funding agencies in India and abroad. He/she will also monitor the scientific progress reports and financial report of all extramurally funded projects. He/she will be responsible for helping NCCS faculty to get funding from international bodies like HFSP, HHMI, EU, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, etc. He/she will also help NCCS in developing collaboration with scientific, medical and bio-engineering partner institutions and industry. He/she will be also involved in generating IPR from the knowledge created by NCCS faculty.

Qualification & Experience : 1st Class MTech / MD / MVSc / MPharm / MBiotech or PhD / Corresponding degrees in other disciplines with original work as evidenced by patents or publications. Evidence of leadership with about 4 years experience in R&D.
Desirable : NCCS is seeking a motivated individual with strong background in biology or physics or engineering and microscopy to lead the Central Bio-imaging Facility. The successful candidate should have extensive practical experience in light microscopy, confocal microscopy, super resolution microscopy and should be able to employ various techniques such as FRET, FRAP, FLIP, TIRF and similar tools. He/ She should be able to image biological samples and help in doing pre- and post-imaging processing of samples and acquired data. He/ She will provide training and assistance for scientists in the operation of microscopes, image acquisition and analysis, and the presentation and management of data. The manager of the facility will also be responsible for maintenance of the facility microscopes and other associated instruments. Three recommendation letters along with the application in support of experience in microscopic techniques and other capabilities mentioned are required.
Description of Duties
1. Management of the microscopy imaging facility to provide a complete service for the effective use and development of advance microscopy techniques to support research and teaching.
2. Teaching theoretical and practical aspects of light microscopy to academic and technical staff, Ph.D. scholars and project students to ensure that they are able to use the facilities effectively and safely.
3. Provision of microscopy service to internal and external users for demonstration, training or exploratory purposes.
4. Advising users on suitable sample preparation, and by engaging actively in project work with research staff, contributing to experimental design and development of sample preparation methods, and suggesting appropriate imaging techniques.
5. Presentation of data gathered in an appropriate manner to aid interpretation of results.
6. Responsible for arranging upgrades, routine maintenance, repair and servicing of instruments, sample preparation for instrument calibration, troubleshooting and performance verification.
7. Conducting workshops to impart theoretical and practical knowledge to the interested individuals.

The above two positions are for the Project Management Cell & for the Bioimaging Facility of NCCS. These two scientists will not lead any research groups, nor will take research students under their direct supervision. It is understood that both the Scientists will devote 100% time in carrying out services of the Project Management Cell & as facility provider of NCCS, respectively..
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Application in the prescribed format * duly filled in along with Demand Draft and attested copies of all certificates showing date of birth, qualifications, experience, details of the examination passed, list of publications / patents, caste certificate, if any, recent passport size photograph and other relevant documents should reach to the Director, National Centre for Cell Science, NCCS Complex, S. P. Pune University Campus, Ganeshkhind, Pune 411 007, Maharashtra, India on or before 13.10.2016. The Name of the post applied for should be super scribed on the envelope.
2. The above post is as per the Central Government pay scales and carry allowances like Dearness Allowance, Transport Allowance and HRA as per rules. Total Monthly Emoluments (TME) includes Dearness Allowance, Transport Allowance, & HRA as per rules.
3. Age relaxation will be available to SC/ST/PH candidates as per Government of India rules. SC/ST candidates should produce proof of their caste certificate from appropriate authority.
4. Age and Experience will be relaxed in exceptional cases by the Competent Authority.
5. Applications received after the due date and incomplete applications without required documents will not be considered.
6. A demand draft of Rs. 100/- (excluding SC/ST/PH candidates) towards application fee, drawn in favour of Director, National Centre for Cell Science, should be attached with the application form.

15. Direct recruitment appointment will be made initially on contract for a period of 5 years with a probation period of one year, which may be extended.
