G.B. Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment (formerly known as G.B. Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment & Development) was established in 1988-89, during the birth centenary year of Bharat Ratna Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant, as an autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Govt. of India, which has been identified as a focal agency to advance scientific knowledge, to evolve integrated management strategies, demonstrate their efficacy for conservation of natural resources, and to ensure environmentally sound development in the entire Indian Himalayan Region (IHR).

Applications are invited only from Indian citizens for the following purely project based temporary positions under various projects at Leh (Ladakh UT) campus of the Institute. The candidate with adequate qualification may appear for Walk-In-Interview on 30.11.2023 (11:00 A.M onwards) at Ruthpa House, Near islamia Public School, DIHAR Road, Leh, 194101. Candidates appearing for Walk-In-Interview must bring all original copies (with Xerox copy) of certificates, testimonials, experience etc. along with an application.

Junior Research Fellow (JRF - 01 No.)
Project Name : NMHS funded project entitled “Assessment of glacier-climate functional relationships across the Indian Himalayan region through long-term network observations"
Emoluments : Rs. 31,000/- + HRA PM with NET/GATE
Age Limit : 28 years*
Qualification Essential : Masters in Environmental Sciences / RS-GIS / Geography / Physics / Geoinformatics / Geology / Atmospheric Sciences / Meteorology from a recognized University. Or M.Tech in Water Resource Management / Environmental Engineering / Hydrology / Computer Science / Atmospheric Sciences / Meteorology from a recognized University.
Desirable :
• Working experience in Himalayas.
• Good communication/writing skill.
• Good knowledge of computers and remote sensing/ statistical software.

2. Research synthesis and analysis
3. Documentation and Presentations
4. Project report writing

Junior Research Fellow (JRF - 01 No.)
Project Name : NMHS funded project entitled “Mainstreaming passive solar heated buildings in the Indian Himalayan Region: Integrating Science with traditional practices to enhance climate resilience"
Emoluments : Rs. 20,000/- + HRA PM
Age Limit : 28 years*
Qualification Essential : Essential: Masters in Environmental Sciences/ Social Sciences/ Geography/ Physics /Geology / Economics from a recognized University. Or B.Tech / B.E. in Civil Engineering from a recognized University. Or B.Arch from a recognized University.
Desirable :
• Working experience in Himalayas.
• Experience in extensive field surveys in Ladakh/J&K
Responsibility

4. Project report writing


* Relaxation in upper age limit for SC/ST/OBC/Women/Physically handicapped candidates as per Govt, of India rules.

General Instructions
1. Desirous candidate who wants to appear online/virtual mode must send an advance copy of the application in the prescribed format with all supporting documents (i.e. educational, experience etc.) to the Admin, NIHE-LRC by email (lrc-nihe@gbpihed.nic.in) on or before 5:00 PM on 23.11.2023 (Thursday)
2. Aspiring candidates satisfying the eligibility criteria may walk-in on 30.11.2023 on (11. 00 AM onwards) at NIHE, Ladakh Regional Centre, Leh.
3. Candidates must bring original documents pertaining to their educational qualifications & experience along with one set of photocopies. The experience will not be considered without an experience certificate.
4. The selected candidate(s) are expected to join immediately.
5. The selected candidate is liable to be posted anywhere in India.
6. No TA/DA shall be paid for attending the Interview.
7. Institute reserve the right to disengage the manpower at any time without assigning any reasons thereof.
8. The engagement is purely temporary in nature.
9. In case of any dispute/ambiguity that may occur in the process of selection, the decision of the Institute in all matters relating to eligibility, acceptance or rejection of applications, mode of selection, and the conduct of examination/ interview will be final and no query or correspondence will be entertained in this connection from any individual or his/her agency.
