CSMCRI with much scientific excitement has now achieved technological excellence with several granted patents in the core mandate of the institute and is one among the top performing national R&D laboratories in the country. At the beginning of 2011, the Institute has around 360 staff with 150 S&T staff on its roll and around 250 research fellows and project assistants pursing their doctoral programme.

Applications are invited from the talented and motivated candidates for working in the following project.
Project title : “Culture-independent and -dependent bacterial cataloguing of diseased Kappaphycus alvarezii : an integrated approach to support sea farming economy”, funded by DST-SERB under Start-up Research Grant, New Delhi. P.C. No.: GAP-2183
Nature of Work : Bacterial enumeration from seaweed samples, culture maintenance, microbial studies on seaweeds
Essential Qualification : M.Sc., in Biotechnology/ Microbiology/ Marine Science/ Marine Biology/ Oceanography/ Oceanography and Coastal Area Studies/ Botany/ Plant Biology/ Plant Biotechnology.
Desirable Qualification : Experience on microbial studies/ seaweed cultivation.
Age limit : 35 years (Relaxation in age as per CSIR norms).
Monthly remuneration : (i) Rs. 31,000/- + HRA for M.Sc. scholars who are selected through (a) National eligibility tests-CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE or (b) a selection process through National level examinations conducted by central government departments and their agencies and institutions.
(ii) Rs. 25000/- + HRA for others who do not fall under (a)and (b) above.
Applicants those who are working as a Project Assistant/ Field Assistant/ Research scholar or any other mode in CSIR institutions/ other government organizations need to be submit
No Objection Certificate from their present Project Leader or competent authority in the letter head with seal. Candidates applying without knowledge of their Project Leader or Competent authority, candidates will be whole responsibility for any enquiry and CSIR–CSMCRI, and MARS, Mandapam will not be responsible. Interview will be conducted on physical mode at Marine Algal Research Station, CSIR-CSMCRI, Mandapam Camp - 623 519, Tamil Nadu for shortlisted candidates no TA/DA is permissible for attending the interview. Shortlisted candidate list will be informed through mail on 05.04.2024. Applicants should be submitted as per the instruction in the application form otherwise application will be rejected.
Duration : This post is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. The engagement of a project staff in different project either in the CSIR-Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute, Bhavnagar or different Lab./Instt. of CSIR taken together shall not exceed 5 years in any case. It would, therefore, not confer any right/claim implicit or explicit for any candidate for claiming extension or absorption in CSIR-CSMCRI, Bhavnagar.
