The International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), Mumbai, formerly known as the Demographic Training and Research Centre (DTRC) till 1970, was established in July 1956 under the joint sponsorship of Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, the Government of India and the United Nations. It serves as a regional centre for Training and Research in Population Studies for the ESCAP region. The Institute was re-designated to its present title in 1985 to facilitate the expansion of its academic activities. It was declared as a 'Deemed University' on August 14, 1985, under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

Post : Health Investigator - 1

Applications are invited for interview on job contract basis for 'Health Investigator' in LASI-VIS project at IIPS. The field survey of the LASI-VIS project will be conducted in four states of India, namely Panjab, Karnataka, Kerala and Rajasthan. For the implementation of LASI-VIS field work in these four states, 4 field teams will be required. The proposed field team composition comprises of 2 Female and 1 Male field investigators, 1 Health investigator and one supervisor. For each of these four LASI-VIS states, one field team will be recruited, trained and designated for conducting field work.

Roles & Responsibilities :  Survey - Biomarker data collection in regional/ state languages with CAPI (Mini Laptop) as per the field implementation guidelines and protocol.

Qualifications
Essentials:
Graduate in optometry/ B.Sc. Optometry/ Diploma in Optometry/ Diploma in Ophthalmic Assistant or Certificate course in Ophthalmic Assistant Desired Qualifications Graduate in Medical lab technology / B.Pharma / BUMS / BHMS / BAMS / B.Sc. in Nursing / BPMT / Graduation with GNM/DMLT. Training/experience in Biomarker or health related measurements Good hold on the respective state language and Basic computer knowledge.

Remunerations: 
Salary: Consolidated: Rs 12000/- per month
Daily allowance (DA): Rs  750/- per day (only for field work activities) (Vehicle will be provided)

Duration : 3 Months

Each team will be recruited and trained by the IIPS in the 2 weeks training of trainers programme. After training, each team will be designated to their respective LASI-VIS state for the commencement of LASI- VIS field survey. 3 months is expected to complete the base line survey in all the four states.
