Job Description
1. Personnel Management
• Recruit for and staff positions to meet business needs while leveraging diverse global talent.
• Develop staff competencies, including knowledge, skills, abilities and behaviors.
• Supervise direct reports and facilitate performance management, personnel development, and career development through frequent interactions, coaching, and transparent feedback.
• Create a culture of accountability, excellence, and integrity.
• Appropriately identify and resolve personnel issues in collaboration with human resources and functional management.
• Participate and represent staff in succession planning activities, talent assessment, merit pay, promotion processes, and reward and recognition activities.
• Manage and optimize a successful sourcing strategy across area of responsibility to meet business needs and to deliver business plan on time and within budget, ensuring capability and capacity is available to meet business deliverables.
• Ensure a flexible resource pool of experienced staff to execute work. 
• Prioritize work, assign resources, track progress of work flow, manage timelines, and shift resources as needed.
2. Business Planning and Operations
• Participate in business planning and budget development, with ongoing oversight of implementation. 
• Ensure appropriate, necessary, and effective metrics development, review/analysis, reporting, and issue resolution to drive business and operational changes.
• Communicate with business partners on progress of deliverables and risk mitigation strategies developed and implemented.
3. Organizational Effectiveness
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal/external business partners and cross-functional management to leverage the team’s expertise to support company and functional objectives/initiatives, as well as to provide a channel for effective communication of the team’s objectives/deliverables, obtain resources, ensure productive and efficient team interaction, share best practices, discuss therapeutic area strategy, and discuss opportunities for strengthening key relationships; oversee relationship management of vendor staff.
• Provide functional influence, leadership, coordination, and management.
• Manage audit readiness, quality, and compliance along with any associated risk, developing/implementing risk management plans and quality initiatives to deliver medical communication disclosures accurately, transparently, with high quality, and in compliance with internal/external guidance/regulation.

4. Strategy Development and Implementation
• Drive / oversee implementation of GSC / enterprise strategy, monitor performance, and adjust course as needed.
• Develop synergies across teams and functional areas to successfully implement new strategies and support best practices across geographies and business units.
• Represent GSC in work stream projects and process improvement initiatives.
5. External Outreach
• Understand customer expectations and undertake timely and appropriate actions to ensure fulfillment of expectations.
• Ensure customer focus through benchmarking and the development of metrics.
• Evaluate and act on the current competitive and regulatory environment.
• Develop and maintain key external contacts in industry, technical, and key professional organizations. 
• Network externally to acquire and share knowledge and to strengthen relationships/partnerships.


Candidate Profile
• Bachelor’s degree.
• 1 year experience developing and/or supervising creation and delivery of regulatory, publication, commercialization, and/or healthcare communications and/or communication plans.
• Or 1 year experience leading/coaching others.
• Advanced degree (eg, PharmD, PhD, MA, MBA).
• 3 years experience in scientific communications/medical writing
• 1 year direct experience with the tools/systems used by GSC .
• Prior manager-level or equivalent experience.
• Experience with operations, business planning, sourcing, metrics/reporting, etc.
• High learning agility with ability to be flexible, adaptable, and to manage multiple, often conflicting, projects and teams and bring to successful resolution in a constantly changing business environment.
• Problem-solving and conflict management skills with ability to assess risk to effectively make decisions and defend positions.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategy across people, processes, tools, and organizations.
• Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly with all audiences and forums through exemplary oral and written communication skills Six-Sigma and/or project management experience.
• Limited travel, including international, up to 15% in a given month.
